Should I buy an X-Box 360? I've been hanging out to get a next-gen console for a while now, as my DS is looking a bit battered. Is it worth me saving up the 400 odd bucks (Australian) That it costs for a 360 , or should I buy some more games for my DS? I don't want this thread to turn into a console war, and please understand that I have considered buying a Wii, but I think I would just enjoy a 360 more. Comments? Orders? Post.

Definitely dude! 360 rocks! I don't have a wii but imho it's novelty would wear off after a while... 360 is an awesome console which just keeps bringing out better games. You won't regret getting one!!

No , don't buy one , I mean comon its probably the worst console to ever hit the shelves. It sucks so bad that I had to buy one so I could smash it with a sledge hammer.

For me, the biggest 360 disadvantage is that in order to make the console cheaper, Microsoft sells it without a WiFi adapter and HD-DVD drive. I'd really like these things to be in my console when I buy it, and they are quite expensive when bought separately.
However, PS3 has both these things and I haven't thought even for a second on which console to buy. The 360's just great.

The 360 may not come with WiFi adapter and HD-DVD but I didn't need them. But you really should not be thinking about which console comes with more bells and whistles. The only desiding factor should always be the games. For me it was an easy decision, the xbox had Dead Rising, Oblivion, Gears, Rainbow, and will soon have Halo 3. Just decide what games you want to play and then pick the console that has the most.

Yeah... if your going to buy one... get the Elite version. All the good parts are going to that Xbox. I have the Pro... man, the damn thing froze up on me twice today! Freaking me out. I already had to send it back once already. Good thing I kept the box they sent it in.

Alright you guys. Sounds like the thing to do is to get a 360. When I can, I'll buy one. I also might pick up Rainbow Six Vegas, and definately Halo 3. Thanks for the advice.

The only difference left between the Elite and the Premium is the bigger hard drive and the color scheme. New Premiums are shipping with HDMI ports and the problems that caused the RROD have been fixed.

EDIT: Forgot one thing. The Elite version does come with HDMI output cables as well as component, while the Premium only ships with component.

well oblivion and rainbow six are both for the ps3 as well...
I didn't like dead rising that much when i played it... but gears is a really fun game to play, especially when you co-op with a friend. It so much easier to come up with strategies for it. Hopefully I'll be getting my own 360 this christmas. Bioshock just looks too good to not play. And plus it's gotten nearly perfect scores across the board, so a game like that you just can't pass up!

If you have the money for the 360 then go for it. I personally bought a PS3 because yes, I'm a sony fan... I've been one since the original PS so I decided to stay one. *puts on flame shield*

On a side note, Warhawk just came out for the PS3 and it is one fun online game to play. The battles are hectic as ever... And everything is actually balanced really well which is quite impressive for an online game. Well that's enough chit chat for now. Have fun with your decision.
