View Full Version : How many times has your Wii died? IlliniFan 09-05-2007, 12:24 AM There is a similar thread on the Xbox 360 board, so I figured I would have some fun here on the Wii board. My answer: Never Lono_Lives 09-05-2007, 12:44 AM Wii fanboy Bragger. chrispenny 09-05-2007, 01:54 AM Never, but a few times it has failed to read CDs (ones in perfect condition). Tk 09-05-2007, 02:35 AM Never I think that's partially due to the fact that I don't own one. :p Ploogle 09-05-2007, 05:24 PM NEVER. It's going to stay that way, too. Vive la Wii! Mikey 09-05-2007, 07:03 PM Never, I have only had the problem of my controller dying for a few hours, then coming back to life. Anbaraen 09-06-2007, 03:04 AM Never, I have only had the problem of my controller dying for a few hours, then coming back to life. Once you inserted new batteries? :D Mikey 09-06-2007, 07:01 AM lol, I should have explained more. They became unsynced, and they would sync back up until I unplugged the wii and the replugged it. Chemical_Burn 09-06-2007, 01:20 PM Great out of all sold Wii's I think I got the front lined one. You know how usually when you buy anything you take it from the back cause you figure that some asshats been screwing around with the ones in the front? Anyway I've had my Wii freeze up on my twice, once in Red Steel, and 2nd in MK:A. I can't say how but just in the middle of the game it stops with an annoying loud BEEEEEEP coming out of my TV. So far to this day only twice.... <.< made a weird noise 1 day as well when it was running a disc. In fear that my Wii was a camouflaged Xbox 360, I quickly ejected the CD after powering off to check for scatches. Luckily none were found, so had to take down the lava lamp and made some extra room to make it sit flat, so that would hopefully not happen again. So far so good. TheSmokingManX 09-07-2007, 02:17 PM Never, although the thing actually runs pretty hot while it's off. IlliniFan 09-08-2007, 02:08 PM Never, although the thing actually runs pretty hot while it's off. You are probably leaving it on standby mode if it feels hot while its "off". You can turn it off by holding down the power button until the light turns red. The light on the front is yellow while in standby mode. You should only leave it in standby mode if you want your Wii to remain connected to the internet while you are not using it, which only really matters for getting messages, exchanging Miis, etc. I leave mine off when I am not using it. Chemical_Burn 09-09-2007, 06:24 AM I don't see why the Wii gets hot if its in standby mode. Mines warm but never hot so I leave it in standby mode at all times unless I'm playing it. musicdude101 09-10-2007, 09:41 PM Never, I have only had the problem of my controller dying for a few hours, then coming back to life. With battries the wii just eats them up. :( Its alot better buying the rechargable ones. It'll pay off for itself in about a.... week.lol. But if ur controller is dying just look at the battry life. Wandel 09-13-2007, 06:30 AM Mine's never died. Take that Xbox360(No offense, I still want you). Ala Douche 09-13-2007, 09:57 PM hehe, i've never had any problems with my wii... i've had it for about 4 months... the next system i'm going to get is a PS3 though... i know they've been lacking in games, but it looks like they're beginning to come out with some gems. but for now, a wii is all i have, and honestly i love it! shadowtech 09-15-2007, 03:03 PM My Wii has died just as many times as my 360. SWSilentkiller 09-17-2007, 10:17 PM Haven't really had any problems with mine except for some reason the controller I got with the wii eats batteries alot faster then the one I bought seperately. guess that's what I get for getting a wii on ebay oh well doesn't matter much to me Scrubble 09-18-2007, 09:13 PM Never has, probably never will. I'm sure you have to play with it enough to warrant such a thing happening. void 09-20-2007, 12:37 AM My wii has never died... but I have run into the issue where the wii won't read the disk... Seems only that way for Wii Sports though Chemical_Burn 09-20-2007, 05:23 PM Is your system tilted or laying flat? SWSilentkiller 09-20-2007, 08:22 PM mine is tilted even when playing gamecube games, isn't that they way it is meant to be? Mitch808 09-22-2007, 09:11 AM My wii has never died... but I have run into the issue where the wii won't read the disk... Seems only that way for Wii Sports though Same here. Peacemaker 09-23-2007, 09:23 AM My Wii has never crashed, died or failed to read discs. My 360 however has died once and crashed several times.. Kudos to Nintendo for a small, silent and reliable console. SWSilentkiller 09-23-2007, 07:21 PM My Wii has never crashed, died or failed to read discs. My 360 however has died once and crashed several times.. Kudos to Nintendo for a small, silent and reliable console. yeah it may be small silent and reliable however when in stanby mode it wastes alot more energy then the PS3 or 360 however it uses alot less energy when playing games Anaris82 10-02-2007, 01:58 AM I don't see why the Wii gets hot if its in standby mode. Mines warm but never hot so I leave it in standby mode at all times unless I'm playing it. While in standby mode the system is busy talking to the internet. All the processor work heats up the system, and since the fan isn't on in standby mode, it can get so hot it screws up the console. I had the bad luck of having the 3.0 system update brick my Wii. The really sucky thing was, I only had it two days, and I got it for my B-Day. Luckily, it was under warranty and I got it back 2 weeks later. JAcK0R 10-03-2007, 10:50 AM My Wii has never "died." It did have a disc drive go bad, where the system would sound like a haircutter's buzzer when it was running a disc. Thankfully, none of my discs were ever harmed during running, but the noise bothered me and I sent it in for repairs. It was back in about a week, so it runs fine and quiet now. Ala Douche 10-03-2007, 11:07 AM one of my dogs chewed up the sensor, so i had to go buy a 3rd party (suck) wireless one. i rarely play it anymore. freak perfume 10-10-2007, 04:07 PM Once. I left it on standby, and it overheated. I sent it to Nintendo about 2-3 weeks ago, I'm expecting it back soon. Although the games I have for it suck besides Super Paper Mario. xTreme 10-25-2007, 10:17 PM My wii has never died...though, I expect it might die from overheating when Brawl comes out ;) dtcarson 10-25-2007, 10:38 PM Mine didn't die, but I did have the overheating/video noise/artifacting issue. Still playable, but I called and got it replaced. Very quick service too. Ganondorf 11-01-2007, 06:10 PM never QueenSavvy 11-01-2007, 08:10 PM it died lots of times, i killed it LOL ... Wii's a funny name for a system... :P Mikey 11-01-2007, 09:18 PM one of my dogs chewed up the sensor, so i had to go buy a 3rd party (suck) wireless one. i rarely play it anymore. Ala are you talking about the Niko Wireless sensor bar? I have one of those it's way stronger then the bundled sensor bar. The only comlaint I have about it is BATTERIES. Although they do last a good while as long as you remember to turn it off. wiiomatic 11-15-2007, 02:44 PM never, but it froze during madden 07 once... I love this console...and that we can brag to 360 owners- ever heard of a wii's RROD? No. because there isn't one. Whitefire351 11-15-2007, 03:23 PM well if i turn on my wii as much as my 360 then I could say for sure but my 360 has more games Chrono 11-15-2007, 03:26 PM my wii died when my friend poor a pitcher of beer on it at a party good thing is somehow nintendo didnt realize it was liquid related and replaced it :-) Millakilla 11-15-2007, 04:00 PM Erm never lol i really dont see how my trusty ol' wii could die. Yeah it does get a little warm when its been on standby all night but by that time it has provided enough heat to keep the whole house warm :p Sniper 11-16-2007, 10:43 PM mines never died GamerzGirl 11-17-2007, 12:37 AM None. I feel lucky when it comes to the consoles that I have.....-_- l33tm45732 12-01-2007, 09:11 PM Once when my power died so i guess that that doesn't count. Diortem 12-02-2007, 10:28 PM Not once since I got it in February. Link97 12-22-2007, 05:32 PM Never. Klown 12-23-2007, 05:33 AM My remote has totally failed me :( Diortem 12-24-2007, 08:38 AM yeah it may be small silent and reliable however when in stanby mode it wastes alot more energy then the PS3 or 360 however it uses alot less energy when playing games Is there a standby mode on the other two? Ento 12-24-2007, 09:40 PM Never. My ps3 stopped reading games after a month though so I need to send it in for an exchange. kinda sucks that the more expensive system messed up first. Klown 12-30-2007, 05:17 AM OMGWTFBBQ my remote is working!... after i inserted batteries... strika234 12-30-2007, 10:18 AM one of my remotes died, and my wii won't connect to the shop thing, but I've never had a huge problem Diortem 01-12-2008, 10:28 AM i dont actually own a wii but my bro owns a wii and a 360. So when I try to play Super mario galaxy, it turns out i put the disc the wrong way in. It took me 15 Minutes to figure that i had the disc the wrong way. And for the record, I agree with Millakilla... I HAVE 4 really good games on it already. Ploogle 01-26-2008, 06:34 PM Already answered, but... NONE! |
