Oh yeah, I suckered you in, didn’t I. The new game? Yeah, it’s a bean bag tossing game called Target Toss Pro: Bags (http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/870/870769p1.html). Those Incredible Technologies? Yeah, that’d be the developer’s name. The cumulative image of the Wii just sank another notch lower in my book. We now have video game equivalents of simple kids games.
You toss a bean bag into a hole. Wait, that was over-simplified, let me quote the words of the developer: “You stand at one end of a court with four beanbags, and at the other end there is a slanted, wedge shaped box with a hole in it. Your goal is to toss the beanbag into the hole.”
Uh, yeah, that’s better?
At what point does a parent (or even kid) decide that paying money for a virtual bean bag and a virtual hole is a better investment than filling a sock with pinto beans and cutting a whole in a board?
Every time a decent game gets released on the Wii, I feel a little bit less validated for my personal dismissal of the system as a whole, but then there’s inevitably a bunch of stuff like “bean bag tossing” to remind me what a crap-magnet the Wii has become. Make no mistake, Wii owners/lovers, I’m not saying there are no good games for the system, I’m saying the machine is a shovelware-prone crap-magnet. I dare you to deny that fact… double DOG dare you.
I’d love to see someone work out the Hits-to-Sh*t ratio of the three current gen systems. Ah hell, that seems easy enough to do… let’s hit Metacritic.com and compare games scoring over 80 to games scoring under 80 for the three consoles. Wow, that’s actually pretty interesting to see… For the PS3, every hit game is matched by 3.12 sh*t games. For the 360, every hit game comes along with 4.15 sh*t games. Lastly, we have the Wii… where every hit game, drags along 9.09 sh*t games in its wake. I think that speaks for itself.
Incredible Technologies… you’re aptly named, although I think you intended the “good” connotation of the word “incredible” instead of the one I’m thinking of… the one realizing that on a percentage basis there is over twice the crap on the Wii as the 360 and almost three times the crap as the PS3
