View Full Version : DBZ Burst Limit Demo Impressions
DarkDragon9906 05-17-2008, 11:10 AM I just tried and have to say it was an absolute blast. I have always liked dragon ball Z ( not GT ) and the budokai series. Tenkaichi was okay but I didn't get into it very much and seeing this game made me so happy. What do you guys think?
The teleports, countless kamehameha's and the pursuit attacks were probably the best for me.
Millakilla 05-17-2008, 01:57 PM Meh, If i saw it in a bargain bin for £19.99 i would probably buy it but for a £40.00 game its not worth it at the moment...
Xenuftw 05-17-2008, 05:29 PM I thought it was awesome too =D I've got a feeling this is what naruto ninja storm is going to feel like. Honestly i can't get enough of it! But i do feel it may be a little too easy (then again i could only go up to normal difficulty).
So yeah, this is going to be on my buy list.
darkwonders 05-17-2008, 08:13 PM I loved DBZ when I was younger, and didn't like the games until they went to the cell shading method. Makes it feel much more anime. I'll probably pick this up though...
Don't know which version tho. PS3 version comes with a blu-ray movie. I don't know which DBZ movie it'll be.
360 version comes with the first season on DVD.
Xenuftw 05-17-2008, 08:19 PM wait what? So when it comes out i can get it with season 1 on xbox? if so then im gonna get it on xbox
animathias 05-17-2008, 08:21 PM I'm getting it on the 360. This was already on my radar, and the demo just set it in stone - a definite buy for me.
Also, if any mod comes by this, please move it to the multi-platform forum.. my powers are limited ;)

Yeah. I saw it when I was reading the gamestop weekly ad.
http://www.gamestop.com/gs/weeklyad/current/051608/images/olfsi_051608-2.jpg
At the bottom it says what comes with each edition. I don't know if it's within the case, or something extra cause it says while supplies last.

Xenuftw 05-17-2008, 08:51 PM Ah i hope this deal's in the uk as well! And is the us release date the same as the uk's one? because at the end of my xbox demo it said coming june 2008 and im not sure if it meant for the us or the uk...
Tinman 05-18-2008, 12:20 AM insta-buy. I've loved DBZ games since before the cell shading, and afterwards. Buy buy buy.
Season 1? Hell yeah.
I stillneed to find some DB though...that was reeeaaally good, too.

:p Put this thread in the 360 or Lobby section, and I'll rewrite it to suit my needs ;) I have no power here
DarkDragon9906 05-18-2008, 01:11 AM Sorry about that, my mistake. Anyways I've only got a $200 a year allowance and I'm spent. (MGS 4, LBP, Resistance 2) so I cant buy it But I am renting it for sure.
codinthepocket 05-19-2008, 02:36 PM I played it at Xenuftw's house...
It was alright. It was fun fighting in the sky, while throwing massive blue electric shocks at the opponent, with pretty decent graphics aswell...
I know Xenuftw will buy it. I might rent it... It has online, doesn't it? So it may be pretty good... Felt like a cheesy Tekken...

You can't use me as food!
That's only for special occasions!
I want a Tekken 6 demo... then I can actually play the latest version of the actual thing, not just a [fun] copy, with some ridiculous cut-scenes (what was up with the Green Goblin thing?:undecided:)

I can use you as food and eat out of your bowl. :w00t: <- personal joke, no punn intended.
I think the green mans like his sidekick or soemthing, not sure never actually watched DBZ
balaamsafe 05-20-2008, 12:21 PM tbh, it's just a poor man's tekken, with nice cell shading
and dialogue during fights, eurg
not saying it's not enjoyable, just not for we when i still prefer tekken: DR which i got for £7 off PSN
darkwonders 05-20-2008, 02:50 PM People who aren't fans of DBZ won't get the game... or the characters for that matter... All they will see is a fighter game

DBZ is quite a bit different from Tekken... Sure, it's a fighting game where you punch and kick.. but the similarities end there. I've never seen a character in Tekken dodge 4 punches in a row while still standing still, teleport behind their opponent, then knock them into the air, where they fight while flying... I might have missed that release.

I heard it was released right after Duke Nukem Forever was released
For people who are lucky enough to own both a PS3 AND an Xbox 360, I'd reccomend trying to buy the game just on its own. For anyone that knows anything about Dragonball Z, the movies are to be avoided at all costs. For such a good TV series, they made 13 movies, and every single one of them was horrendous. Buying the game with just the first series is just pointless as well, because there are 290+ episodes, so getting the first bit is just a waste of your time and money. At a push, I'd buy the version with the Dragonball movie and then put the DVD movie on Ebay almost as quickly as recieving it in the post, because you can atleast use the cash gained as a refund on buying the original game.

There's no extra cost in getting the Movie or season...

I agree. Not all the movies were awesome, but most of them were.

The Ghost in the Shell ones aren't bad either. Although there are two kinds of movie.
Ghost in the Shell
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
I like the latter one better as it follows the anime series.
MJBarret 05-21-2008, 07:24 PM I have ta agree with Larz here lads.
While I love the DragonBall Z series, I found each of the movies to be unbearable to watch.
I have to shake my head in disgust every time I remember having seen them.
GT sucked rancid carcass aswell.
Also, as Larz mentioned, Cowboy BeBop must be watched by all! Both the series and the movie.
It sets the bar all others should strive to reach!

After loving the GITS movie for its depth, characterisation and all round superiority, I found the TV show really rather average. It was like what had happened to DBZ after Funimations got ahold of it and made it kid friendly. Batou was way too happy for a start, which after seeing the original movie, was really un-nerving. And unholy Mother of God, were the Tachikoma's annoying. I understand the use of a young voice in relation to the machines mental age and as a learning computer, but holy $&%#, everytime I heard they're whiney, cute-sy voices I wanted to ram my fist through the PC screen and smash them in to tiny pieces. To be fair, maybe I haven't seen enough of the various series to make a perfect reply, but I think this is due to the rather lack-luster story. In the original movie the concept of equilibrium is discussed, in the TV show its the soul of some guy going in to the body of a machine to wreek revenge on his parents.. not exactly Shakespeare.
Anyway lol rant over lol.

i've seen it. I loved it. But most of the DBZ movies aren't bad. I've seen many more anime movies than just DBZ. Miyamoto and his orgasmic movies are works of art.

You really need to watch the SAC series. Granted I only own the first one... but it's nothing like what you described. GITS and GITS:SAC are meant to be two completely different things...
They're supposed to sound like kids because they represent the innocence that the people in section 9 lost a long time ago...
The major plotline in the first series is the Laughing Man case, which is quite interesting... Then all the other episodes deal with government corruption in general. Why do you think I have the laughing man logo as my avatar :p
I really want to get the Second Series... Waiting for the price on amazon to drop to around $50. That's how I got the first series.
gingerbob 05-22-2008, 02:03 PM I played the demo, and was blown away by how fawesome it was! Its like playing the anime!
But I'm not going to buy it until its much cheaper... because I've bought Rock Band. :(
