Dear EA,

Boy, you and I sure have had some great times together. At one point, an entire shelf of my computer desk was dedicated just to hold all of the imaginative and thrilling titles you published or produced. Back then, you probably caused more children to be obese from sedentary lifestyles, than lawsuits from overworked employees. But alas, times do change.

Our love/hate relationship has evolved into a just plain 'hate' relationship. I don't think I can continue living in this abusive tango. Remember that time you slapped me, EA? JUST REPEATEDLY SLAPPED ME ACROSS THE FACE with not ONE, not TWO, but THIRTY-FREAKIN-FIVE different The Sims titles, expansion packs, stuff packs, compilation packs, fanny packs, and Pakistanis for my PC? I'm sick of spending my nights crying alone, in the dark, wondering just whatever happened to SimAnt 2. You dissolve your best developers, forget to beta test the Battlefield series, and crank out steaming piles of crap fit only to be played by the blind community (or maybe for just people without senses at all).

It's over. We're through.

Until you, you know, build up media hype for your next game and I get suckered into buying it.

Yours truly,

A Consumer

I totally agree with this, although I've played the Sims (the first version) and I've even bought an expansion (it was called "hot date" or something like this)!
I was younger and more foolish, you know :P

I don't really like the way that EA develops its games. Almost every game from EA has MANY sequels and MANY, MANY MORE are under development. Can't they make one, nice FIFA or NBA every 3 years instead of producing an annual sh*t?

Yeah, I'll admit, I bought the first one, and the first two expansions, but how on earth anybody could still have that much mental strength in them to play all 13-something expansion packs is beyond my knowledge.

Exactly. It's hard to get hyped up about the same old annual bullshit of "OMG LOOK, MADDEN!" or the millionth sequel to Need for Speed (which, imo, have gotten progressively worse, though the next one looks somewhat decent).

The only EA game I think I've played lately has been Burnout Revenge, but even that's part of their sequel machine with Burnout 5 around the corner. I have mad respect for Criterion Games, however, so I'll probably end up getting Burnout 5 at release.

For the record, I had the original Sims and all of its expansion packs and had a blast. The Sims 2, I couldn't get into. They should have taken all of the expansions for the original Sims and integrated that into the core of Sims 2, but did they? No. Instead they took things like pets and made them another expansion pack for Sims 2. Way to be money grubbing assholes, EA. Thanks.

It'd be nice if they kept doing this, but only to fund some real, mega blockbuster games. They're going in the right direction by publishing Crysis, but if they attempt to buy over CryTek I will mug them all.

Well, EA does love their expansion packs. For all games. Perhaps there's a rule on it.

"If the game makes the moneys, reproduce like bunnies."

Okay that was pretty lame but, they definitely are the exception to the rule "If it aint broke, don't fix it."

I had a bunch of EA games scattered around, they release some fun games once in a while.

What really ticked me off were the Battlefield series.

So I bought BF2, a month goes by an expansion comes out(Spec Ops or whatever its called), I'm thinking alright, I guess they really improved it or something. Figures out that this "Expansion" is not really expansion at all, but just a standalone version that you have to launch a completely different client for! Boy did that piss me off. I just paid $20 for 3 maps and "night vision" which I hated with a passion.

I got over the anal-rapeage, and just in time another "expansion". Than another, than another. Being part of a clan at the time I stick it out, and buy them as they come out.

Next thing I know BF2142 comes out, looks exactly the same, feels exactly the same, plays exactly the same but hold on, it has new skins and shitty sounds pasted together from their previous games. I bought it too.

20 minutes into the game it finally hits me, I'm a moron with an uncontrollable spending habit. That was yesterday.
Today I'm typing this message on a brand new 42" plasma Aquas display, hooked up to an Acer media PC(http://www.urbandevil.com/image/Acer/)

Oh yeah, where was I going with this, SOMEBODY HELP ME.
(I'm kidding of course). But yeah, I'm definitely not liking EA anymore, they treat customers like wallets, where are the free patches, the free content to keep customers attracted to their games?

They aren't there, because we keep forking over the cash for them.
