PS3 owners with penchant for wearing khaki and speaking to their camera phones in Autralian accents will apparently have something soon to step up their role-play. The game is called Afrika.
In the game, players assume the role of a photo journalist roaming the vast continent to take pictures of various animals in their natural habitat.
No seriously that’s what you do. Apparently for the whole game.
Not only did this steaming pile somehow make it out of a “creative meeting” at Sony, but someone’s also expecting you to pony up triple-A money for this abortion. According to Japanese retailer Game Star it’s sliding in at a cool 57 dollars (US).
I wonder how many hard-working indie developers with thousands of unpaid manhours poured into what they hope will launch their company into the big time, look at insanely dull game concepts like this and just vomit.
While this concept might have the National Institue for Insomnia Research jumping up and down like hyenas, I am so amused by the idea that I am almost nauseous.
Have fun comparing your online photo’s to those of your friends, I’ll be over here playing actual games and having actual fun.
Pah!

I'm not gonna lie here: the game does look cool. As a tech demo, or something along those lines. Not as a game. I don't see how this could possibly end up being a "fun" game unless they decide to throw in a bit of First Person Lion Hunting gameplay and minigames like Animal Showdown and Far Cry 2: Hippo-Hunting Edition.

The realism is ridiculous, though. They've done a good job on that part. Now just, erm, make it fun.

The game does look great from a graphical & detail stand point. Some people may end up being interested & it may even move playstation 3 off shelfs. We have to take into consideration that there are not only hardcore gamers anymore. Nintendo has brought in many casual gamers with there Nintendo Wii console. You can be certain that they have been made aware of the Xbox 360 & PS3 through friends. A game like Africa can end up being appealing to those kinds of gamers & it may even bring newer gamers to the Sony platform. Not everything has to be on the level of Call of Duty 4, Gran Turismo 5 or GTA4 to be good. Everyones taste is different. With all that said, I'm not getting it either lol =P.

The graphics look nice, but if I wanted to go take pictures of animals I would just do it in real life. On the other hand it could be a pretty cool game if the animals did unusual things or something, we'll just have to see.

Oh boy! Only $57!!! A whole $3 cheaper than a good game like Battlefield: Bad company or COD4. That's a whole week's worth of allowance extra that $3...
