I don't know. I mean, I know that it comes with alot of respect and all, but I'm third prestige and I like my symbol, so why should I bother. Also, when Resistance comes out in the fall CoD4 will go into the closet for quite a time.

No way is worth it. In fact, I don't consider any prestige rank worth it. The way I look at it, I have already unlocked all the weapons and perks, so why should I have to go through all that again just for some insignia? Also, why would you want to reset all your challenges? I have worked really hard to complete some of the harder challenges, and see little point in having to do them again.
I know prestige show how 'elite' you are, but I just like to play for fun, so some little symbol doesn't mean anything to me.

prestige is garbage, I did it once and stopped, hell if I could I would have never odne it. It doesn't earn you any respect at all, seeing as how anyone can get it given enough time. I would rather have a low looking rank and have people think I sicuk because then I can destroy them.

If anything, I have less respect for people on level 10 prestige.

That was the first time ever on the Internet that I've heard something so stupid that it made me scrunch up my eyes and sit at my computer for over ten seconds staring.

If you have no life, sure; try your best to get up to the 10th prestige. But it take ages...there are so many awesome games coming out soon, so why bother? By the time you do get to the 10thp, COD5/6 will be out and you'll have to do it again.

Yea, save the time and play other games. Plus resistance 2's multiplayer will rock so you should be spending the majority of your time on that.

I am somewhat still new to COD 4 and am still working on my first trip to 55. I understand there is prestige after you get to 55 but does that reset all your unlocks as well? In other words, if you start prestige, do you loose all your perks and gun unlocks and have to essentially start all over again?

The problem with 10th prestige is all the people who have done use mp5s because they are noobs.

The problem with 10th prestige is all the people who have done use mp5s because they are noobs. How does that make them noobs? There's far better weapons than the mp5

How can you be a noob if you are 10th prestige?
Unless you are using the term noob to describe a crap player, But it really means newbie, so you have to be new to the game to be a noob and you can't be really new to the game if you are 10th prestige....

I like Prestige because it increases the game's longetivity.

Although im level 38 6th Prestige, I think i'll stop at this one

Does the xp per level required increase with each prestige level double when you move to the next prestige level? In other words, if prestige 2 level 1 requires 500 xp, does prestige 7 level 1 require a value greater than 500?

Nope, same amount for each level that you've went through is required again. But on the second time around it'll seem like things go much quicker since you now know what you're doing.

Personally, I like prestige mode, as to quickly get back to where you have the perks and stuff you like you must use the weapons until you max them out, increasing your proficiency with each one and trying new combos as you progress through each rank.

When I first started playing stopping power always had a place in my perk slots. Now, stopping power only graces my sniper class since I prefer one shot kills when sniping. You'll find new ways to play if you prestige, or else you'll fall into a pattern along with many others.

 And another oklahoman pops up, where in the 7 circles of hades are they all coming from.

its all down to you as the player. To me its worthwhile going prestige as it gives the game a newish lease of life, you get to start again with those lowlife weapons and it gives you the opportunity to once again get the satisfaction when you get a challenge completed or rank up. As for the gold weapons, well in my opinion they are only worth gettting once you get to lvl 10/55. I'm currently just prestiged to level 5 or 6, can't remember and its just as difficult getting through the first 10 or so ranks as it was when I started ( well not quite as difficult as the very 1st few games but you know what I mean). Its a "challenge" again and I get morexenjoyment out of the game than if I sat at lvl 55 forever. When I finaly get to lvl10/55 that's when I shall enjoy getting the gold weapons. I havent yet got any of the gold weapons, apart from the obligotary desert eagle, so when they do appear after lvl10/55 they will be a real achievement/ challenge. I'm not looking for respect from others in regards to the icon before my gamertag I'm looking at thecrespect I have in myself for getting it. True there are a lot of lvl10s about and like another poster says, I don't necessarily have anymore respect for them as a noob. So if it feels good, do it.

The prestige isn't, but the challenge of it makes the game more interesting for a while.

Hell, I don't think any of the prestige are worth it. It would be cool if you unlocked a perk or a special gun at each new prestige, because then I would actually go for them.

now that's a bloody good idea deathbywaffle. That would make it oh so worthwhile. It is a bit of a drag going through the 1st ranks

first off. this is my long time buddy and neighbor who let me use his ps3 and without him i would not have gotten a ps3 or found sarcastic gamer for that matter. but i think prestiging is worth it to use the game to its full potential. but going past 4, i think, is a lot of work and frustration.

The only reason i went through a few levels of prestige ( I am at the one that looks like the umbrella logo from resident evil). I could care less about golden guns, and I really don't care about challenges. I only use one or two guns anyway. But now I got bored of going through them so I stopped.

But to answer the question 10th prestige is not worth it (unless you just must have that symbol). If anything people get more "respect" when they have the golden guns.

Worth it? Probably not. But for me I will probably not stop until I get a gold cross, it is a sad addiction...

If your max prestige you need a life or a new game how many hours can you sit and play the same levels.

it all comes down to you and your personality. If like me you have an addictive personality then going through the prestige levels is a must, not necessarily for the"prestige" but more because its there and you need to do it. The only thing that stops me doing similar repetitive things in games is boredom. Now cod4 has me in a cycle. I reached the 55 level 1st time round and wanted/needed to go over, so I did. I lost everything and I was miffed. But I enjoyed the challanfes again and ranking up was fun and much quicker. It brought the game back to life a little more. It made the game harder as you only have the basic weapons and perks. By the time you reach the middle ranks you ARs getting back "into" the game and getting your familiar and getting into your comart zone. This to me is when I get bored playing the same thing over with the same weapons, and I look forward to ranking over. Having said that by the time I reach 55 its been a slog and I always ponder for a few seconds on whether to do it or not. I always do and probably always will till I reach the end or die of boredom. So in my opinion its worth prestiging as it makes the game more challenging and releives the boredom.
