Oh I know. Our webserver (forums ) were down and the podcasts live here too. So that probably prevented your itunes from getting the file.

Seriously though, we realize that it may have been in bad taste, but he plays football and inherit in playing football is injuries. He's not the first to suffer a spinal injury and probably won't be the last. Saying he's off limits is like saying you can't make Dale Earnhardt Car crash jokes or whatever.

As for the debate over podcast quality, my personal opinion is that we don't want to sound like a podcast. I find most podcasts to be really boring. The first podcast i ever listened to was episode one of this podcast after Doc told me about the site. I totally dug it and the rest is history.

Since falling headlong into the abyss known as Sarcasticgamer j/k, I've had a chance to sample a number of podcasts to compare and contrast. My new favorite is the Video Game Show. Check that out. Otherwise, I find that most podcasts aren't really my taste. I find that four people talking over each other, with usually one person's voice super loud and the others at different volume levels kinda annoying.

I recently checked out the CAG Cast because I, like most people, read the reviews, which were great, and thought I'd check them out. I didn't care for it. It was an hour and a half of two guys talking about their families and about 20 minutes on games. Not my cup of tea. I'm sure there are people that love their podcast and hate ours and that's cool too. To each his own.

We're trying to set a higher bar with our podcast. We want our podcast to be THE best 30 minutes or so you spend on your ipod for that week. We hope we're succeeding. If not, let us know. I guarantee you we will try to make it better next week.

It makes sense really, I can see how you try and get that 30 minutes to be 110%, so to speak.

Hilarious as always. I've been listening since Episode 1, but I finally took Doc's advice and joined the forums.

First, in the interests of full disclosure, the only console I own is the 360.

The comment that the PS3 is dead and will be gone in a year seems like wishful thinking. Sony's been in this game too long to just give up and pull the plug. Besides, do we really want Microsoft to own the high-end console market outright? I know I don't.

As to the FASA shutdown... I hate it when people lose their jobs. For that I'm sorry. What I'm not sorry for is Mitch Gitelman getting his comeuppance. After Shadowrun was released he went on any podcast that would have him to b*tch and moan about how the reviewers were unfair, how consumers had better get used to the model that Shadowrun presents, blah, blah, blah. At the time I was royally pi$$ed by his comments and I'm glad to see that he got the rug pulled out from under him. Couldn't have happened to a more arrogant jerk.

People thought the same thing about the Xbox though. It was late to the game but managed to do a pretty fair job of catch up.

Sony's in a Catch-22 situation right now. There aren't enough consoles out to really grab the interest of game developers, and there aren't enough games to get people to buy the console. I think if Sony were able to get the console into the "reasonably priced" category (which to me means the same price as a high-end 360) people might start opening their pocketbooks. There are still a lot of PS2 owners out there who haven't bought into the current gen consoles.

I'm still not sure what it means to "win" the console "war." Typically winning a war means one side surrenders and goes home with their tail between their legs. I don't see that happening in this case. I too have my doubts that the PS3's install base will catch up to the 360's install base, but only time will tell. The problem is that the numbers can be spun so many ways. For all we know, Microsoft is counting every RRoD repair they send out as a new sale.

I'm still not sure what it means to "win" the console "war."

In this case, the "war" has many forms:

1) Is the Wii next-gen? If so, can it realistically compete with the other two next-gen consoles?

2) Will the PS3 ever get some good games?

Right now, either the Wii or 360 are winning, depending on if the Wii should be considered 'next-gen'. If it is, the the Wii is winning hands-down. The PS3 is losing in all respects, and the 360 is still a pretty dang good system, besides the hardware flaws. :D
