I rather liked that review. MGS4 just isn't a game for him, and he's paid to be offensively funny.

Don't think it's an anti-PS3 or anti-MGS thing. It's just legitimate criticisms to MGS4, but in this case he's payed to play it up for the offensive and humor value.

Yup, He's come out and has said he just insults games it works for him. He has done like 1 review which said a game was good. I just cringe at the thought of the hate mail he is getting from this hopefully its not as bad as the SSBB hate mail.

I liked the review (Wait...no scores so its not a review) and I was honestly looking forward to it because I knew to expect just what we got: Yahtzee complaining about the absurd story and overwhelming cutscenes.

I don't think his view was that it "sucks" but he, like many of us non-fans, did feel that the games may benefit from less complex story and quadruple agents and more time devoted to the player behaving as they choose in an open environment in order to fulfill requirements and goals.

Basically if I want to burst in to a room, guns blazing I should be able to do so but I should also face penalties for it. Stuff like my target being informed of my presence or me losing out on precious intel. The sort of things that would make completion tougher but not impossible.

When were you ever penalised in any other way for gunning people down in MGS4? The only real difference between stealth and shooting is the satisfaction.

His comments about controls were a bit silly though. You never have to press triangle unless its a sniper for an accurate shot, its very accurate just using the shoulder button (as you would in CoD4 anyway). Also the cover thing, he must have missed that you can peak up from cover and take a shot without standing up like he said. The rest is fair but also kind of the charm of the MGS series and if this one didnt do all it did it would have left a heck of a lot unanswered. Yeah it was verbose, but it needed it.

I only played the first two and seem to remember dying a lot when I went in guns blazing and from what I've heard in MGS4 the only way to beat the game without stealth is on Easy mode.

I'll admit I'm rather impatient and hate having to be stealthy and leave people alive when I can just as easily kill them without penalty to the storyline.

I refer you to the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion as an example. While you're free to carry out the assignment as you see fit there is an added reward if you do it in a certain manner. If games like MGS4 were like that I would find them more enjoyable.

MGS4 is like that.

hahaha, then the metal gear series is NOT for you!:lol::lol:

it's just the way the game was made, man. you're not going to be complaining about splinter cell next are you? some games, just aren't for certain people.

as for his "review" i rather liked it. agreed with almost everything he said. i still like the game, even though i got it on release day and am about 4 hours into it and haven't played it in over a week...

funny, as per usual. Again, wouldnt use it as a basis to buy a game or not. Agreed with some of it, as it can often rely too heavily on the 'Action' aspect, but you are an idiot if 1. you find pressing three buttons at the same time is hard and 2. think that the story is shite.

Its the second time ive heard a 'reviewer' being pissed at pressing three buttons to shoot, actually its L1 and then R1 to shoot, if you have to go into 1st person to shoot someone then you are just stupid, unless of course you are sniping, then sure, its a legitimate time to use it, and at which point, is the same as any PC game. Seen as though during a normal PC gaming experience, i often have to navigate 8 or more buttons to survive any given situation, then three buttons to tranquilize someone seems a little less difficult.

Its also the second time that the story is slated (So far Yahtzee and Gametrailers...not surprising really....) Don't understand this. Yes there are cutscenes which go on, but the majority are interesting, and if you really are too inept to understand anything in it, then you can skip. I still watch the full cutscenes and im on my fourth way through it now. Apart from those one explaining nano machines from meryl drebin and naomi, you know when they go into that wierd computer screen looking thing. Skip those ones :P Oh and the convos with rosemary, she goes on a bit lol. But saying the story is crap is like saying CoD4 is not popular at all.

did lol hugely though, and most of it is true :P just the two above bits are slightly aggravating :P

I would just ignore both of them, Yahtzee slates games for traffic and Gametrailers is falling apart.

His point is one I've always found with the mgs games, that a cutscene that could give the same point just as well in 1-2 minutes seems to take mgs games 10 minutes.

It is too much for some people.

@ Ala Douche: I only played the first two because of hype and I actually enjoyed MGS.

@ PopTrogdor: He would have loathed SSX. Some tricks required the holding of up to two directions on the D-pad and some combination of the shoulder buttons; up to and including all four at once.

I agree with Yatzee on some points, MGS4 really needed an editor to cut all the crap out and shorten it a bit.
