View Full Version : Spore..
Anbaraen 09-17-2007, 07:08 AM Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone else is looking forward to Spore, the new game by Will Wright. I'm sure most of you have heard of it, and if you haven't, the website is Spore (http://www.spore.com)
I'm really looking forward to this game. It's set for an August release down her in Lil Old Australia, but maybe you guys will get it earlier. I must say it looks really innovative and I'm happy that they aren't releasing another Sims game. Thoughts, comments?
It's a very interesting concept. But this game gets pushed back again and again. So don't bet your money on august ;)
Yea, I've been waiting for this game for a while, but it seems to be pulling a Halo 3 on us.
LEGEND 09-17-2007, 03:17 PM Looks great in my opinion, not sure why its taking so long to develop though.
keith22 09-17-2007, 10:13 PM It seems to have to potential to be a good game
Volkov 09-18-2007, 03:31 AM Looks great in my opinion, not sure why its taking so long to develop though.
Probably has something to do with creating a game that allows you to work your way up from a single cell organism to an interstellar traveller.
Anbaraen 09-18-2007, 05:41 AM Yeah Volkov, I have no idea why that would take so long to develop... [/sarcasm]
CharlieBlix 09-19-2007, 10:55 AM this game has gotten pushed back so many times I'm starting to think Duke Nukem will come out first.
Beowulf 09-20-2007, 07:11 PM Can someone please explain to me all the hype about this game?
I've seen the videos, but I just dont understand why it's such a big deal.
Canuck 09-20-2007, 11:13 PM It allows you to pretty much create any kind of creature you want - a three-headed lizard with three legs, a blob-like creature with a dozen legs, a scorpion creature with an arm on its tail, and so on. The possibilities are endless... and when you create your creature, the game dynamically animates it - so if your creature has three legs, the animation AI will adjust to make the creature have realistic walking patterns. And the customization doesn't end there - you can customize the buildings, then send a spaceship across galaxies where other creatures made by fellow players (downloaded from EA) will populate those millions of planets. It's simply an incredible game that I can't wait for.
Instability 09-22-2007, 01:43 PM From what i have seen so far it is looking exellent imo when i saw robin williams making a demo character for a live preview i was aw-struck
RawSwedishpoweR 09-24-2007, 01:14 PM Im looking forward to it and I think its gonna be alot of fun.
Nalta 09-24-2007, 08:37 PM OMG i cant wait for spore!
I'm going to make either a race of donut men,
a race of tripple tailed scorpions,
or TROGDOR! :D:D:D
Ploogle 10-01-2007, 08:14 PM Spore. Spore? SPORE!?!??! SPORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG. FINALLY I find a topic on this glorious game.
Wizard 10-01-2007, 09:15 PM I'm going to have a bunch of MJOLNIR battlesuits walking around killing things. It shall be awesome. If they support robots. Which they don't.
>.>
<.<
TROGDOR!!!!! TROGDOR!!!!!
Griffin999 10-06-2007, 08:58 AM thay do support robots in the city stage
Mr Eibmoz 10-06-2007, 10:15 AM I think Spore looks incredible in design and scope. The tech and ideas are all fantastic but I'm fairly sure that it wont ever make a good and fun game. Tech demo, heck yeah, but it just seems so dull and simple (massive scope, but in all the demos shown, each stage actually has the most simple almost flashgame like activities).
Its very interesting, but I dont see it being worth.
Beowulf 10-07-2007, 10:30 PM Thank You.
Finally someone who believes that this game is incredibly overhyped and will fail to deliver.
Wizard 10-07-2007, 10:47 PM I dunno. I kinda liked Sim City 4.
Forget Masterchiefs walking around...say hello to Cylons!
Garrand 10-08-2007, 03:45 AM I just want the ability to conquer the universe. It seems like kind of one of those time-waster games. There doesn't seem to be a real point to it. Isn't a game that one plays for 50 hours straight, more like playing a few hours here and there for a long long time span. But creating ones own species of being will definately be awesome.
tmsize 10-08-2007, 06:17 PM I am a big Sims/Sims 2 player, but I am not thrilled with the idea of Spore. I don't mind the open ended game play, it does not spark any interest from me.
Ploogle 10-08-2007, 11:25 PM Mrs Supa...I no longer know you. :p
Part of why I like it is because I've had experience with game programming, and I can appreciate fully what these guys have done with the code. Insanities. And more.
Like, seriously. Buy the game even if you won't play it. These guys deserve an early retirement for this game.
In fact, we should all just take an early retirement and play!
tmsize 10-10-2007, 10:38 PM On the contrary I have great respect for the programmers of the game. I know that it takes a great deal of specified coding to make a game such as Spore to work properly.
Heck, I am amazed at the Sims community that find hidden "sprites" in the game it self that the programmers left or even improve the game-play overall.
But as a whole the game is not that interesting to me, though SupaSlick seems very interested in it. But maybe if I tried it out I might get hooked and never stop playing for hours on end.
Griffin999 12-19-2007, 05:35 AM SPORE IS MY LIFE
well my spare time anyway
LEGEND 12-19-2007, 10:13 AM Probably has something to do with creating a game that allows you to work your way up from a single cell organism to an interstellar traveller.
Yeah but it still doesnt look that complicated, the graphics are still pretty much Sims 2 based so that wouldnt have taken to long. And the initial stages of the game are 2D.
Griffin999 12-19-2007, 06:15 PM ^ only the very first one and thats only a kinda tutorial... although i still see myself playing well over 10 hours in that stage
