Cracked.com has posted a great article predicting what the future of video games will be like, giving us a view of how different playing a video game will be like in the next 25 years:

It has some really interesting insights into futuristic technology thats being produced right now, they even predict that by 2018 the gaming console will be obsolete, instead graphics will be projected directly into your eyes by futuristic sunglasses. Meaning that if you fall asleep with them on and forget your wearing them you could wake up to a hundred virtual zombies chasing you, and think they're real.
Pretty scary stuff.

Somehow I think something will impede the progress of some of this technology.

We hereby predict that by the year 2028, someone, somewhere, will literally wipe his ass with a computer more powerful than any that exists today.
Pretty much sums up the article.

Contact lenses with imprinted electronic circuits and lights for augmented reality display vision
The purpose of this is to allow wireless internet communication, telephone communication and such in other interviews they have stated that they could display games but their main aim is to improve the technology before getting on the fun side of it. Its still about 30-50 years from being released but it sounds awesome.

"Electronic Arts could crank out a Shrek 9 game in a couple of weeks that features nothing more than Shrek standing in your front yard, quietly staring and occasionally farting. The whole time your brain will be telling you it's the most fun you've ever had.".
 I want this.

Man. I'm personally looking forward to the time when we can wear nothing more than some cool glasses for your every electronic device...although I think that there will undoubtedly be laws against thought intrusion. I mean, we freak out about unauthorized eavesdropping on telephone calls now, so how could we feasibly allow the commercial prodding through of your brain?
Another development they forgot to mention is Wireless Electricity. No joke. These guys stole basically the last original idea I had for an invention:

I love how all this originated from their Spore hype...
