I don't see the big deal about paying $2.99 or whatever it is for a beta. Especially since, in the case of Qore you're not really paying the makers of the game like Frawlz kind of makes it sound. Maybe that's not what he meant, but that's how it sounded.

I don't have a PS3 and I probably won't be getting one anytime soon, but as a 360 owner, I just can't make myself care much about achievements. There have been a few times I went for easy ones, like in Euro 08 I used England to win a shootout which gives me an achievement and I got a team to qualify for the Euros who never had before. I don't really go out of my way for them and I only see the "Achievement Unlocked" screen on rare occasions, usually early in the game because I accidentally get the easy ones. So I'm basically with PMPB on this one.

Idle Hands - I completely forgot that film every existed - Funny film, didn't realise that Jessica Alba was the girl in it.

While you criticism of superhero games is generally fair I would hold up Spider-man 2 as an example of a good sandbox game (as well as Hulk UD that you mentioned)

However, I have now come to the decision that I am NEVER EVER buying a game that comes out as the same time as the film EVER. Take note game companies - a delayed game can still be good in the future, a bad game is bad forever! At the very least time it for the DVD release if not you have lost my sale already.

About the whole Beta thing. I already subscribe to GamePro and honestly there is a lot more in the magazine. I mean you are getting a Resistance preview so that should help. Yes, you are going to have to enter a contest to get into the beta but the mag still has a lot more in it.

BTW I am in that mag. Bet you can not find me. Hint: I love to ask questions.

I haven't listened to the show yet, but I've heard before about PMPB's dislike of the achievements. I'm for achievements in a way, but I'm kinda against the gamerscore. I mean, I don't really care about it, but I would love to go after the achievements just to have an extra little challenge and a way to prolong the game. I'm not the person who would buy the latest Avatar game for the easy 1000 points or post his gamercard in a signature on a forum. It's just not my thing. But the achievements, I'm all for.

i think your ending should be...i dunno, something silly like, list one game from any point in Sony's gaming history and say why you loved it. Have it cycle so each week, its a different person. Like one week one of you talks about say, Tombi, then the next week, its Tomb Raider blah blah blah...bad idea probably, but you know, its an idea nonetheless.

If you want an under appreciated game and have the luxury of backwards compatability then surely Beyond Good and Evil is an absolute must for any gamer. My favourite game of all time...

Great show again guys. The trophy/achievement thing is a good topic, I guess it brings out the best and worst in gamers. But then again so does pretty much everything else, in game chat being a good example.

Oh and by the way, I think I've pretty much got my third patch of questions ready. I'll get tired eventually don't worry :lol:

achievements are tight, I agree with the score being lame but the whole achievement idea gives the game a little more replayability if you really like the game but don't have much of a reason to play through it again, I played Gears an extra time I normally wouldn't have just for the cog tags than even another time for the complete Dom achievement, same with Orange box, and about shooters, I used to hate shooters, halo one was a joke to me but I have to say I'm totally on the band wagon now, in fact most other games don't even hold my interest not that I've felt the action of some of the recent shooters. Also didn't like uncharted all that much, glad I haven't paid for a PS3 yet as those must haves havent been must haves for me. Loved the show.

I like achievments but don't like it when people make such a big deal over who has the higher gamerscore. Nice show.

You should see the backflip on the Sony forums. I'm not being a fanboy of the achievement/gamerscore system but I loved that aspect of the Xbox 360 & said right from the start that it'll end up being a system that is copied & improved on competitor consoles. Of course, I was laughed at for even saying that & called lame ( nicest thing said ) as the whole gamerscore system was pathetic. This was on the Sony forums back in 2005. While it was dissed & bashed over the years, with the trophy system announced, you see a whole different attitude now =P. Players want an achievement system & welcome it in open arms. A few still don't want it but a majority of PS3 owners really do. Now one could only wonder if Nintendo will follow as well.

Sucks that PMPB got the wrong PS3. My GF was like that at one point. I would never send her to get me anything Video game related as I know she would of got it all wrong. She's much better now since I been with her for 4 years lol. So actually researches on my b day & x mas exactly what it is she knows I want & gets it right =).

As for " the truth " that Frawlz brought up, all I can say is Silence is golden...... until you're paid the right amount ;). I'm impressed with how wealthy PMPB is. When I saw a check in my mailbox, I thought it was my stim check from the govt. That was until I saw an extra 0 on the end of what I thought was $600 =). I guess the stamp of the canadian flag on the envelope should of gave it away =P.

Pacman fails at gaming knowledge. Halo was late to the shooter party? it wasn?t released until 2001, a full 8 years after Doom, 6 years after Quake, and 3 years after Half-Life. Halo introduced nothing. Halo swept nothing on to the gaming scene. You fail.

Did Doom, Quake or even Half-Life have even close to as much media coverage, or as many ad campaigns? Nope, not even close. Shooters were always popular, but since Halo, every big name shooter grabs a crap load more press than most others.

That is what I said. Obviously an exaggeration, there are numerous factors that have affected how much press a game received since Halo, but I really don’t get what you “think” you heard.

I just started listening to the show as of this episode. Everything sounds good so far guys. I hope the show sticks around for a long time.

I think a lot of bad things will happen to him before he gets it. It seems to be one of those things where everything will go horribly bad before it gets better.
