We're pleased to announce that we've made our second post on the the US PlayStation blog and in doing so, have broken some great news for PlayStation fans of Burnout Paradise.

Hop over there and check it out as we:

Update our US PlayStation fans on the status of the Codename: Cagney update
Confirm that we are indeed supporting PlayStation Trophies in a future update for Burnout Paradise
Show off a bunch of really cool screenshots of the Tempesta Dream and Oval Steel Racer in an Timed Challenge from Codename: Cagney

A quick summary of what we can tell you about PlayStation Trophy support in Burnout Paradise:

We will support PlayStation Trophies in a future update of Burnout Paradise
(But if won't be in Codename: Cagney update)
Trophies will be awarded based on your progress in your existing save game - so, when the update arrives the trophies you have earned will reflect the progress you've made in the game at that time (so you won't have to replay the game again to earn trophies)*
* We can reveal that this is why your Burnout Paradise save game has always been locked to your PlayStation Network id - so we could guarantee that when PlayStation Trophies arrived that your save game would reflect your progress.

As always, here on the blog, we will post more details when they become available.

I love the burnout team.

Criterion have given me another reason to leave them at the top of my 'awesome developers' list. Not content with the plethora of free DLC they're giving us, they show they care about our precious game saves too! :D

Great idea, and the playstation blog said they weren't retroactive :undecided:

Some metal gear trophies would be sweet, I need another excuse to play through that again.

I suspect Devil May Cry 4, if they patch in trophies, will also be retroactive since those saves are tied to PSN accounts. You can still download and use other saves, like I did when I decided I didn't like the gameplay, but still wanted the story. But the game actually recognizes when it's a save from someone else and disables the in-game achievements.

B-b-but the reason I like the trophies was because it would make me play all the way through again... Eh, oh well. I haven't gotten too far in Paradise anyways.

You know, if they can do it with this game, then why not with all the games? I understand it is a developer task but this shows it can be done.

Because burnout paradise locked your save to your psn id, because they are awesome and planned ahead.

Yes, and if a developer makes the trophy system in their game retroactive and the saves aren't specifically locked to a certain account, then people can trade game saves and get all of the trophies instantly, and that's something that Sony is specifically campaigning against.

Wow, that was a long sentence.

This brings me to an interesting question. I've played both the PS3 and the 360 demos of Paradise, and have played a bit of the full game on the 360 round a mates house. I think it's possibly about time i purchased the game for myself. Would you say that one version has an advatange over the other?

At the moment, i'm leaning to the 360 version as it's £5 cheaper than the PS3 version, but does the PS3 version have things in it the 360 version does not? Which version should i get?

Thanks,

The Ps3 version, it was the lead platform during dev on the game and also the new update has been delayed on 360 by 4 days.

Although you should really get the version your friends have if you want to play online with them, the online challenges are a lot of fun with friends.

I would go ps3 though.
