So I preordered my copy of GTA4 at Gamestation and got 500M$ points free - and to quote "...for the exclusive episodes on Xbox LIVE Marketplace starting Autumn 2008".
I added these to my account about the same time and they've been sat there since then (primarily cos there's nothing worth buying on Marketplace at the moment) but then checked the other day and they've expired!!!!
WTF???!!!
In the Marketplace T&C's it does say that promotional M$ points can expire - but setting the expiry date a couple of months before the release of content that the points were inteded for??? That has got to be the cheapest thing I have ever seen MS do.

Oh I see what you did. You did M$ instead of MS, suggesting that they only care about money. Wow. Never seen that before.
Anyway, I don't really know about that. I haven't heard anyone else complain about that before, maybe it was a mistake?

Have you actually tried calling them?
I'm sure Max will be more than happy to try and help you out.

Call them up and kick up a fuss, Microsoft can be a bit of a gimp about it though. I've never understoof the idea of making them expire though, the only reason i can think of is so they don't get copied or something but still, low blow Microsoft.

All Max will do is infuriate you further than transfer you to a person who barely speaks English who is right in the middle of Grand Central Terminal.

The points haven't expired because of the date, they have expired because you only get so many days to spend them. If you had waited 'till the DLC had come out, then used them, you would be able to use them. But you didn't. And apparently you already knew they would expire..? You can try to call Micro"$"oft [do you see what I did thar?] but I doubt they will do anything, because they gave you some pretty strict T&C to read. Sorry buddy, at least you didn't actually lose money.

the DRM tool had been in production for months before you complained. It's not like they though "hrmm, we will wait for the 67,056 person to complain, then start work!"

Yeah its my fault cos I didn't use them - and if you dig deep enough into the marketplace T&C's it says that promotion points can expire, but it was still something I wasn't expecting and if I had known in advance (for example they tell you on the scratch-card that they expire) then I would have used them ages ago.
They're only the equivalent to a couple of quid and its not like I've lost my own money so I'm just gonna leave - I can't stand calling M$ customer service.
Still think its fairly crappy though.
