Nintendo, everybody probably thinks, are champions and creators of the casual gaming market. After all, they created the DS and the Wii, currently the most popular games consoles in the world, and these consoles offer up heaps of games for everybody. While I can admit that they have the market cornered, the creation of the market for ‘games for non-gamers’ should really be attributed to Sony.
Before we had games such as Brain Training on the DS (with a Western release in 2006) or the huge range of superb family-oriented games on the Wii, Sony was trying to kick start a new genre of games designed for those who don’t really enjoy picking up a joypad; these included SingStar in 2004 and Buzz! The Music Quiz in 2005.
Despite losing the majority of the market to Nintendo, they’re gunning to try and claim some of this back with the new version of their quiz franchise Buzz! for the PS3. My review begins after the jump!

For the uninitiated, the Buzz! series is a bunch of quiz games for the PlayStation platform, the first to attempt a quiz show format with buzzer controllers for each player. Each buzzer has four little buttons to answer multi-choice questions and a big red flashing button on the top to mash when you’ve got an answer. From music quizzes to sports and movies, there have been a good few iterations of Buzz! on the PS2, and Buzz!: Quiz TV (slightly off-putting punctuation and all) is the first version to grace the PlayStation 3.
For £45, you can pick up Buzz! on PS3 with four wireless buzzers, which means no more cable clutter dragging across the floor, or you can simply buy the game on its own for £30/$60. The buzzers each take two AA batteries so it could be worth stocking up, or investing in some rechargeables, but that’s a minor inconvenience more than anything else.
With your buzzers powered on and everybody ready to go (from 1 to 8 buzzer controllers, either playing alone or in teams, or online for the first time in the series) you’re all set to get into the game. More details on the game start on page two (http://sarcasticgamer.com/wp/index.php/2008/07/review-buzz-quiz-tv.html/2)!

Its very good but there are a lot of niggles.

1. Unskipable host segments
2. No quiz options. Sometimes it would be nice to not have pass the bomb. You cant even opt for a short game.
3. 5,000 and 1,500 more on PSN to buy on the day it was released. Smarty Pants on Wii has 20,000 on its DVD..... just saying -_-

Its a very decent game but I think both TV Show King (wii ware) and Smarty Pants (Wii) outdo it. Sure they cant be expanded but both offer far more questions for your buck - SP 20,000 for a $50 game and TV shows sub $10 has over 3,000. The user quizes is an awesome idea but its going to be very like youtube in that you have to sift through a lot of shit to find a tasty bite of goodness.

If you have just a PS3, sure buy it now! You'll have great fun with some mates or the missus and it sure kicks the crap out of the 360s Scene It. However, if you have a Wii I think you should check out SP and TVSK first. They lack buzzers but I think its a better overall experience.
