View Full Version : Halo 3 Pre-order
LordLegion 09-20-2007, 08:09 AM So who pre-ordered Halo 3? I did and was just wandering who else. If you didn't and want to hate on Halo 3 go ahead your entitled to your opinion. (as you can tell I love it.) anyways just wanted some feedback on how this community feels about Halo 3?
Lono_Lives 09-20-2007, 08:22 AM Yours truly pre-ordered Halo 3 at microcenter. Paid five bucks and got a 10 buck gift card. They gave me five bucks to pre-order... then I went back and pre-ordered 100 more. I've got like five hundred bucks in Micro center gift cards.....
LordLegion 09-20-2007, 08:55 AM heh no not realy. I'm new to the sarcastic gamer community and would like to know how you all feel about it. Srry if you found it to be like a joke or stupid or silly, not meant to be any of those.
Chexd 09-20-2007, 10:43 AM well i have it pre-ordered. (collectors Edition.)
was gonna get the normal edition but the tin was too tempting for my rubbish willpower.
So ready to pick up on Wed morning (day of the UK release).
keith22 09-20-2007, 11:36 AM pre order it long time ago
Yousty 09-20-2007, 12:47 PM I don't think it should be a question of who pre-ordered Halo 3 because I think anybody on these forums that owns a 360 has pre-ordered it. I think we should be asking which version of Halo 3 you pre-ordered. I personally want somebody to come out and admit that they got suckered into buying the Legendary Edition so that we can all make fun of them for being a Microsoft/Bungie whore.
I bought the Special Edition because the case was so much cooler.
VinDali 09-20-2007, 01:12 PM I ordered mine online from EB Games just yesterday morning. I had no intention to buy it for quite some time. So instead I've cost myself an extra $10 for over night delivery :(
LordLegion 09-20-2007, 02:38 PM ok yousty I'll admit it. I'm not afraid. no one asked that question but yes. I ordered the Legendary edition. Go ahead and make fun of me if you like but for last game in a series I love the extra content is worth it to me.
Chexd 09-20-2007, 03:01 PM so how does that work? Are you guarenteed one? ive heard there are only 10,000 made :S although im sure there are a few more.
LordLegion 09-20-2007, 03:48 PM At some places you are guaranteed to have one within 48 hours. At most you are guaranteed to have one reserved for 48 hours. Depends on where you depends on the policy.
serialrocker 09-20-2007, 07:53 PM Preorder the ordinary edition too cheap for the other versions.
Canuck 09-20-2007, 09:31 PM Collector's Edition = Fine
Regular Edition = Fine
Legendary Edition = WAAAAAY too much
I mean come on... a freakin' Master Chief HELMET? And it doesn't even fit me? Now that's just a waste of $150.
LordLegion 09-21-2007, 08:15 AM Yea well when your hardcore fan just having that helmet on you entertainment center is just awesome.
SpiralGray 09-21-2007, 09:40 AM I think anybody on these forums that owns a 360 has pre-ordered it
Nope. I'll pick up a copy once it's been out a few weeks. I'm still working on Forza 2 and Gears. No sense in having Halo 3 collect dust. Maybe I'll find a used copy by then. :)
BigAndiD 09-21-2007, 10:07 AM mine is pre-ordered, plus we get it TWO days later then you guys over there.
More frustrating, some stores in the UK are already selling it...

Man that bites. and I can't believe stores are selling it. I mean they are selling it right. Like not behind ppl's backs.
shadowtech 09-21-2007, 03:46 PM I just preorderd mine yesterday, haha.
I ordered mine form amazon.ca. If you are a new customer (or make a new account) you can save $10 off "your first order" with a coupon code from retailmenot.com.
Although it may seem cool that I'm saving $10, I'm not really, because the Candadian price is $10 more to begin with, even though the Canadian dollar is now worth the same as the US dollar, if not more.
I got the free 2 day shipping on it too.
Canuck 09-21-2007, 03:55 PM I've got the Collector's Edition pre-ordered, I'll pick it up in-store the 25th... I can wait till school's over though.
And the chances of finding a USED copy of Halo 3 are slim to none. Unless the guy who sold it is just stupid.

I saw used copies of Gears showing up at GameCrazy about a month after it was released. They've got copies of Bioshock on the used rack already too.
Canuck 09-21-2007, 04:22 PM Used copies of Bioshock is unsurprising (SP-only). Gears of War, slightly surprising. I don't expect used copies of Halo 3 to be anywhere until at least a month after release though, the Hype-O-Meter on Halo 3 is far beyong GoW's right now.
Cujoe 09-21-2007, 04:41 PM I was one of many millions as well to pre-order this damn game! Why? Uhhhhh . crap i don't know, i guess i was curious about the game but at the same time feared the day it came out i would go to my local gaming store just to be told "sorry kid sold out"!
I did not want to be the last person on the planet to finish the fight, so yes, i coughed up the $5 back in January and will pick up my copy on tue. The funny thing is on wed. when i walk into 7 eleven theres probabaly gonna be a few hundred copies available!
Chexd 09-21-2007, 05:02 PM want to swot up on the halo story?
http://ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=92649
I always dismissed the story but after reading up on the events of H2 i can finally appreciate what a good ending it was...It is revealed that a place called "the arc" is where one would go to ativate ALL the Halos remotely....and where did the arc appear years later?....the H3 announcement trailer! im excited!!!
May be good to watch the video summaries to refresh your memories.
ooSiRLUDiDoo 09-22-2007, 12:09 AM 1.6 million people pre-ordered, Give or take a few thousands ppl who got more that ten copies.
Spudnik 09-22-2007, 12:21 AM I preordered my standard edition online with overnight shipping. The extra ten bucks was worth it to me because I can go to school that day I when I come back it'kk be sitting on my dorrstep. Awwright.

No. I'm sorry. Those flunk out kids who used to steal your lunchbox, get to your doorsteps first and will be playing their brand new copy of halo 3 to your crying next door :)
And the moral of the story is: better have someone receive your parcels for you.
Chexd 09-22-2007, 04:41 PM As sad as i may sound, i Cancelled my online pre order so i could pick up the game in-store just to be sure it would be tehre on teh day. Lukily my college is a 2min walk away from GAME so rather handy ;)

Microsoft packaging scratching Halo 3 discs
Sep 24, 2007 @ 4:30pm
Anecdotal evidence suggests that Microsoft special packaging is to blame for scratched Halo 3 discs on arrival.
1/4 confirmed GamePro Halo 3 Collector discs that are scratched
All internal GamePro Halo 3 Collector discs are confirmed with scratches
Two reports, including internal GamePro findings, show that the retention nub of the Halo 3 Collector's Edition fails to keep discs into place. As a result, discs freely roam inside the special packaging and become slightly scratched.
The minor scratches appear to be aesthetic, however. All affected discs reportedly play as intended when inserted into an Xbox 360. Still, it's impossible to tell at present if scratches will become a problem moving forward.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer promised in July that his company would be "world-class when we do hardware" after it was revealed that an abnormal number of Xbox 360 units fail. A month later, Microsoft sent Halo 3 to manufacturing.
While the issue may seem expendable, prospective Halo 3 buyers must pay $70-$130 before taxes for the added game content. Standard game discs, which are housed in traditional casing, retail for $60.
Microsoft was not immediately available for comment.
