well so far microsoft had a decent, but not brilliant showing,
Nintendo's was well awful,
So this is sony's show to take right here, to make it their e3. let's see what they offer.

R2 trailer cool. What ticked me off a bit about the trailer was that on one hand some of the shots in it looked excellent because alot of the refining and polishing on them were a large way through, while others (like the one where the chimera were blowing up chicago or whatever city that was, did you see how shitty the buildings looked) still looked pre alpha.
Infamous looks really sweet though.

Sony are bound to show us HOME maybe a demonstration and maybe even a release date for the beta and the full thing.:shocked:

The MAG video wasn't too amazing, but it does give you an idea of what it could be like I suppose. The game certainly sounds really ambitious, and I really hope they can pull it off.

MAG looks impressive as hell! And I'm glad to hear DCU is coming to PS3 as well as PC, that game's been looking impressive for a while now, hopefully a real competitor to City Of Heroes (pity they didn't show any custom toons though. Looks like they just logged in as the NPCs for the gameplay footage).

Oh and that presentation using LBP, kudos SCEA. Just... kudos. :thumbsup:

I'm a little disappointed that the new Ratchet & Clank game is going to be "shorter" but I guess the low price tag and guaranteed excellent gameplay will more than make up for it

well i was also really happy about the PSP Resistance game, looking forward to that too!

Loved how they used LBP to do their numbers, facts and figures part, definitely made it more interesting than the other 2 :P It was fair to say that i dont want to see anymore showing off of LBP, i want it in my PS3 NOW, but they way they used it and showed it off at the same time, definitely left a smile on my face :D

When they showed MAG I had to change my clothes. I've played in servers with 64 people in them (Battlefield 2142 on the PC), but... MAG floored me.

Im surprised no Killzone it looked awesome the last time gameplay was shown which wasn't too long ago.

There was a really brief bit of footage from Killzone 2 in the lineup segment. Only about 6 seconds of it though

Sony E3 presentation was pretty good, they previewed a lot of great looking games, most of them I will probably buy. I only have one complaint about Sony's press conference, I was hoping to see another Eight Days trailer and find out when it is supposed to be released.

The conference was ok. Think people are overhyping it a bit to much. Mostly everything they showed was already expected. It was the best put together, I give them that. The games presentation was much better done with MS where they showed much more in game footage of there games that had actual people playing them. Not a bunch of trailers running on a screen. I'm going to wait to see how DC Uni & Mag is. SOE is epic for screwing up MMO's so I have little faith in them to deliver these days. Lastly, nothing matched how epic the FF XIII announcement was lol. While everyone knew a GOW III was coming, NO ONE expected FF XIII to be on the Xbox 360.

You know, I haven't been all that impressed with LittleBigPlanet. I was actually thinking it was completely ridiculous that so many people were intrigued by it and so pumped to get it whenever it will release. Seeing them utilize it during the financial reports and to see the functionality and how creative you can get with it, actually sold me on the idea. I'm skeptical to some degree, still, but after that I'm primed to see what else you can do with it. Sony definitely did a great job selling the games that they're going to have come out later. Sure I would have liked to see a little Prototype and Killzone, but fantastic nonetheless.

I kinda agree with you. Sony did a good job but i did find myself watching too many montages and too few gameplay video. Still it was much better than nNintendo's and i loved what they did with LBP and those reports.

Also arn't most of MAG's features already in Planetside: huge multiplayer battles, ariel combat drops ect. Then again all we saw were trailers so i don't know :undecided:

Yes but it just feels like a lot of sony's were. like they had hardly anything left.

Going into this e3 the 360 was struggling, some people even suggesting it was near death, and there was nothing, except maybe gow2 coming round the corner, but E3 has maybe not dragged it out of the flames back to full strength, but has at least given it new life, especially with FF13.

Sony were in a potion where they were stronger then they have ever been and could have finished off the 360 here and now, but instead just didn't give us enough new, and what they did give us wasn't much, just trailers instead of gameplay etc. Sony I feel have blown a big opportunity. their show may have been better, but microsoft may be feeling better about e3 right now.

Some game trailers were CG because those games such as M.A.G and GOW3 were simply not ready to be shown in their latest form.

And many of Microsofts new titles such as LIPS,Your in the Movies or whatever its called......as well as the new dashboard and the Mii's avatars are basically rip-offs of Singstar,PS EyeToy,the SingStar store and Nintendo's Mii's.....so nothing really new and exciting there from Microsoft.

Hell yes! God of war 3 (big suprise), Resistance 2 showing, new Resistance being announced, infamous being shown!

The small a suprises surrounding all the MS games made the difference I feel.
I think they also got lucky because they got to show me Resi first and Fallout 3.
Also I think Gears is looking amazing too, all the co op modes announced back to back made me happy too.
Also FF at the end really blasted my head off. MAG did not.
I also wanted more PSP news as that is the Sony consol I actually own:P
Since I dont like the look of Resistance PSP, all I have to look forward to is Pata and Loco 2, but I already knew that :P
Just a teaser from team Ico would have done it for me too, Shadow was such an amazing game that I would do anything to see their next game.

Admitidly Lip's and Your in the Movie's are not great but i am not really concerned by them. i am happier about the new dashboard features. Xbox live parties (8 player private chat)/Netflix and optional hd installation(my disks usually get scratched). Being able to acess my dashboard anywhere on the console will also be a big plus.

I agree with Sarow, MS just had tons to say, even though some of it is so blatantly ripped from other companies.

I definitely appreciate that fact that the Final Fantasy 13 announcement was a big deal because nobody saw it coming, but I don't think that single moment justifies the Microsoft conference being the "best". I mean I see a lot of people touting Final Fantasy 13 as the slap in the face to Sony and "just another nail in the coffin", but the fact of the matter still remains that it isnt going to define the 360.

The game is being finished up for the PS3 and is going to be released in Japan far eariler than its U.S. or European counterparts. They haven't even ported the Crystal Engine to the 360 hardware yet, let alone begin the porting process. I also can't help but think that the 360 version is going to be the "inferior version" of this multiplatform game due to the fact that this game was developed solely on the PS3 archetecture and maximized on it for the last 3-4 years.

Overall, I'm going to give the torch to Sony for a press conference that did what it needed to do for the people and the company. They really focused on content across all forms and is bringing it (finally lol).

I think HOME is still slated for a Fall release. I believe I heard that it will be released in an open sense where feedback dictates what gets added ad removes. It really will never be "finished". I can definitely see there being Firmware updates and Homeware updates.

I get the feeling that Sony held some things back for their Japanese events, like Tokyo game show or whatever private event they hold there. It's likely that they'll show the really anticipated stuff there like the Team ICO project.

I think this has to do with both E3's decline, and them trying to not show things so early anymore.

Yes Sony for sure the best. The had the most broad announcements. I also have an extreme hatred for Microsoft (own all Apples and will never touch an Xbox) but overall Sony just had more.

Sure 360 can have FF13 as well, however we still get FF13 Versus. AND Versus looked like the better of the two being that it is the more Action RPG one.

Give me LBP / Resistance 2 and ill be playing that until R&C Quest for Booty is out in 09.

-They showed gameplay and trailers of Resistance 2 and Resistance: Retribution. Also, it is understood that it will be out Fall of 2008. Insomniac is pretty good with release dates so that is a 2-3 month window.

-If you watched G4, Killzone 2 will be out in February 2009 and they had gameplay and a trailer

-Square Enix in general didn't/hasn't done much of anything. My guess is that the Square Enix Party is in early August and they are saving all that for then.

The game is being finished up for the PS3 and is going to be released in Japan far eariler than its U.S. or European counterparts. They haven't even ported the Crystal Engine to the 360 hardware yet, let alone begin the porting process. I also can't help but think that the 360 version is going to be the "inferior version" of this multiplatform game due to the fact that this game was developed solely on the PS3 archetecture and maximized on it for the last 3-4 years.

Overall, I'm going to give the torch to Sony for a press conference that did what it needed to do for the people and the company. They really focused on content across all forms and is bringing it (finally lol).

One thing that sucks about the 360 release of FF13 is that, even if they complete the localization of FF13 to English or other languages, they'll have to wait until after they're done with the 360 port to release worldwide.

Unless... was there a mention of when the 360 FF13 version would be released? Did they ever say simultaneous release? It's a key word to any such announcement because if they didn't, well the PS3 might be getting it early in the US and Europe anyway.

In Japan, Final Fantasy XIII is still going to be a Playstation 3 exclusive. Only in Europe and U.S. has Final Fantasy XIII been confirmed as a multiplatform title. As I said before, they said they are going to finish the Japanese version before beginning the 360 port and localization of the game in Europe and U.S. So, Japan may very well get a few months to a year head start on the title.

Also, take into account Square Enix recently put Final Fantasy XIII Versus on hiatus and moved Tetsuya Nomura's crew over to Final Fantasy XIII to complete that faster. So Japan could easily see a early to middle 2009 release, or if a miracle occurs, holiday 2008. I really hope Sony decided to pay off Square to release Final Fantasy XIII on the PS3 early as a timed exclusive. It wouldnt take much since the PS3 is region free.

Oh maybe if we are lucky, they would put all the voice-overs on a single version like other PS3 titles have done, so PS3 owners can do a little importing. :)

Yes Sony for sure the best. The had the most broad announcements. I also have an extreme hatred for Microsoft (own all Apples and will never touch an Xbox) but overall Sony just had more.

Sure 360 can have FF13 as well, however we still get FF13 Versus. AND Versus looked like the better of the two being that it is the more Action RPG one.

Give me LBP / Resistance 2 and ill be playing that until R&C Quest for Booty is out in 09.

As I said before though, Sony had theirs much more organized & they presented it better. The problem with Sony's was it was more talking & less showing us the games. They had a bunch of trailers across 50 huge LCD screens & like what, 3 games that had actual ingame footage. Only 1 that was demoed live & that was LBP showing us a powerpoint kind of presentation. Almost all of the games displayed at the Sony conference was first party titles.

Microsoft on the other hand had almost all of there games demoed on stage. Including there biggest games as Resident Evil 5, Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Fallout 3 & so forth, A mix of both first party & third party games. OF course, the FF XIII coming to the 360 was a much larger bombshell than both MAG & GOW III was. Don't know what you saw, but you saw things much differently than a majority of people =). As the FF Versus. Sqaure has seen very little success with Action RPG's. FF VII Crysis core is the case. I loved that game a great deal & it was an action based RPG based in the FF VII world. Still, it did only fairly well for the anticipation that was built around it.

I do believe that Versus will remain exclusive to the PS3 but never doubt MS out. They have more money than Sony can ever think of making so they can continue to pay off developers to remove exclusive titles from other consoles. That's what they've been doing since 2007.

Where can I find documentation on what each company presented? IGN and such pretty much provide it as a whole and not separated by company.

I have to hand it to M$... they gave the best E3 presentation this year..... After the blitzkrieg that was FF XIII handed Sony's bums to them, Sony never recovered from the lowblow....

Sony could've made a comeback with a new IP from S-E or something but failed...

I don't know, Microsoft really didn't come out with anything unexpected. Everything they showed was already rumored or talked about. Were the announcements of Lips, the game shows, and FFXIII, really that shocking? Sure they had pleanty of demos for their main games, but compared to the Sony conference that actually had some new content and a shockingly massive MMO that I believe no one saw coming, across all three conferences I think that Sony was the only one that had something remotely innovative.

Nearly everything they showed besides what, a dashboard update and 1-2 exclusives were all multiplatform games that are coming to the PS3, even some 360 exclusives are also coming to the PC.

But, at the same time, we were all expecting there to be more Sony first party titles to show to make up for having less 3rd party support. If they had just showed 1 or 2 more of some really anticipated games like Team Ico's next project, God of War 3 gameplay (not just a teaser), Heavy Rain, and more stuff that we know Sony first parties are working on.

As I've said before, I get the feeling that Sony held back things to show until the Tokyo Game Convention, this was just a bad idea as it allowed Microsoft to seemingly dominate with the FF13 slap. When a game company says "things will be equal" that is usually meaning "as equal as things can get". Nerds across the interwebs with too much time can find flaws in the versions and if it is found that the 360 version is lacking in some department, which it totally can be since 3-4 years optimizing the PS3 version and 1 year or less on the 360 version.

Tack on multiple discs and this could end up being JUST a bullet point instead of a great game on the 360. Remember, they haven't even got the engine working on the 360 yet, let alone any aspect of the game.

Actually, I didn't watch MS's show. So yes, my information is flawed, especially so since I'm not interested in the type of games like Banjoe, Lips, etc... Portal is interesting, but I have that on my PC. I really want to play Gears though, the changes they've made have gotten me interested in Gears 2 multi again.

And honestly, DLC is still something you have to pay for. I only see myself paying for Fallout 3 DLC since the RPG aspects might keep me playing more, but I'm done with GTA4.

Yeah, even I think it'll be pretty much equal.

However, while the tools are multiplatform, I suspect that they're still progressing much farther on the PS3 version if only because it's releasing in Japan first, which is just odd.

I actually think we need more companies like Bethesda that can do RPGs of similar quality and production value as square, but with a more Western style of gameplay. But, instead of focusing on the first person Oblivion type game that Bethesda does, make something like like Knights of the Old Republic with an ensemble cast.

I can only hope they aren't contractually obligated. Simulatenous can easily become timed exclusive.

I remember reading about FFXIII like this. It is exclusive in Japan on the PS3 once they finish the Japanese PS3 version they will translate an english PS3 version then they will port the translated version to the 360. They will have a simultaneous release in North America.

Square says this is a move to sell more copies of their game. If this is true then why not release the PS3 version first then the 360 version. Thats not going to help PS3 sales much and it won't affect 360 sales much either. I think this answer lies in a big bag of cash myself.

you know, i don't have a problem with FF13 coming out on the 360... but if it means we have to wait another year, and we come to find out it's so they can have a simultaneous release, i'll be pissed.
