I am a massive fan of command & conquer and i am excited about red alert 3. The main reason i think Command & Conquer is the pwnteag is because it has innovated and popularized the wonderful genre of RTS.
After over a decade of revolutionary game EA and the former team known as Westwood bring the long awaited squeal to the alternative reality cold war game, Red Alert.

Cautiously. I love 2D C&C. Generals was ok and C&C3 was decent if visually uninspired. I like that Japan gets mecha and evil schoolgirls though ^_^

Pretty funny that the dev says "This is the first time Red Alert has had three factions" No its not matey!

I'm amped, but wary. They haven't had the same charm ever since half their staff went off and formed Petroglyph anyway, but they still have Red Alert, so I have to at least wait and see.

I hope it will be good. Or at least as good as RA2. That was a good game

I'm hyped. But a bit worried too...if even half of the Westwood crew was still around I'd have no doubts, but after playing C&C3 + Expansion I can't say I don't have any doubts.

Still, considering how great Red Alert 1 & 2 were, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until I have it in my hands.

A large majority of the original Westwood team returned to make CnC 3 and by popular community demand EA has hired almost the entire team that worked on Red Alert 2.

I am also very glad that they have kept the art style of Red alert.

I pimp it a lot, but if you like C&C, try Universe At War! Its fanfeckingtastic.... on PC at least.

I just entered my self in the beta.
If you bought a copy of Kane's wrath then all you need to do is enter your key at www.redalert3.com/beta.

I was not aware of that. Unfortunately that only increases my doubts now, since before I poo poo'd away the travesty that is C&C3 to EA just being EA. If the original Westwood crew was really involved there is just no excuse.

I'll still wait until RA3 is in my hands before I pass judgment. Kinda wish I had bothered to keep Kane's Wrath now.

I loved their work in C&C3. I thought they did a good job in every detail... even in the cheesy cut scenes it still felt like a Command and Conquer game.

I get that. A lot of people really enjoyed C&C3 and even I ended up buying the expansion. The initial online balance issues, map size, hampered zoom and other issues just put me off. I like to bash C&C3 but it was at the very least a solid game, and my beef's are more of a personal preference type thing than a statement of merit.

RA3 SHOULD be stellar. Between that and Starcraft 2 I'll be one happy RTS junkie.

Red alert should be great. I thought C&C 3 wasn't that mind blowing but the world or Red Alert allows for so much more.

The funky locales and unique units lend themselves to Red Alert a little better than the C&C universe...

Crono Tanks anyone?

And YES... Starcraft 2 will be booted into my veins not long after Red Alert gets sweated out... HOPEFULLY.

Look at the support EALA have provided for Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath. I would have said yes but how they've dealt with patching the past games has driven me to say no. The reviews for this game will have to give me the answer.

Can I get lists of Westwood pre-buyout and current EALA employment lists? I mean, all I've heard as far as staffing is that Frank Klepacki (the compositional GENIUS, mind you) is gonna help, but no other news staff-wise.

I'm hoping it'll be good. I found C&C3 enjoyable enough, but a bit lacklustre. Historically, though, I've always enjoyed the Red Alert games more than C&C. It always feels like C&C is the unfinished prototype of their new design, and then Red Alert is the retail version.

On the other hand, I played C&C3 right after SupCom. I may have been unimpressed simply because I'd become far too used to the wonderful concept that is Strategic Zoom. In my mind it's what marks the difference between a strategy game and a tactical game these days.

I love C&C 3, but Im a MAJOR fan of the Tiberium World. (Incidently, Im biting at the bit for the game Tiberium.) Red Alert 3 could be fun, but after NOD, Im bored of Soviet Russia.

Not really that excited about Red Alert 3, maybe because I never played any of the previous game very much. Also I'm a huge fan of Dawn of War so I'm looking more forward to DoW 2.

I loved Red Alert + Red Alert 2 + Yuri's Revenge but they were Westwood.

Then again I liked CnC3 but it had a diff. feel to it because of EA.

One of my all-time favorites is Renegade, and hope that Tiberium is actually worked on/finished but it might have gotten canceled as I haven't read much lately or heard much.

The Red Alert 3 world is great but my PC won't run it and we know the console ports will probably be pretty hard to cope with at points.

I never really liked Red Alert because of the whole gameplay mechanic; I got base-building and resource gathering (or as I call them turtlers) games years ago and now I enjoy games with different gameplay, like world in conflict. Ussr and us units look good but the japanese(chinese?) units, come on westwood that's stupid, even for red alert.
Despite this i'm trying out the beta and will see you all on it :)

Red Alert is the one series of RTS games i feel confident in. They've easily been my favorites, and i don't thnk RA3 will fail.
