I can't be arsed to play anymore!" so I went out with a knife. I killed the whole of the other team on my OWN! and with my knife!! I was like, :O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O Lumpydonut 07-01-2007, 06:25 PM I have had far to many Halo memories to list them here but I always love a good stick from across the map :P Tk 07-01-2007, 10:35 PM Probably most of the times I won a tournament or match against a hard opponent. (in FPS games, mostly UT series) shluke 07-02-2007, 03:29 AM I always love a good stick from across the map :P Don't we all.. ghoti 07-02-2007, 03:34 AM The high point of my gaming "career" is completing Ready Steady Go with the Cheer Girls in Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan. Chemical_Burn 07-02-2007, 05:48 AM I have too many to mention, so 1 of them id have to say is it would be in Day of Defeat: Source. Made enough kills to make the other team full of frustration, that nearly the entire team voted me to get kicked and banned from the server. Seriously... I get pissed and laugh both at the same time as im usually the one being called a hacker when clearly I only have skills to show for. If you can't tell the difference between skill and hacks then you need an overhaul in judgement. shluke 07-02-2007, 06:33 AM If you can't tell the difference between skill and hacks then you need an overhaul in judgement. The difference between skill and hacks is that you actually die when you have skills and you don't have recoil when you hack. Captiosus 07-02-2007, 10:27 AM I have had far to many Halo memories to list them here but I always love a good stick from across the map :P Yep. I'd have to say my best gaming moments in the last 3 months happened during the H3B. Team Slayer on Valhalla. I'm running in the water area by the two rocks heading towards the shore and wall on my left. I get about midway on the map and I see an enemy Mongoose with 2 people flying through the air as they had used the mancannon on their side of the map. I blindly chuck a sticky nade.. and it lands on the wheel of the Mongoose. Blammo! Another one is, again on Valhalla, I'm running midfield and I have a Trip Mine in inventory. Out of nowhere an enemy Warthog comes flying past me. The gunner saw me and apparently told the driver I was behind them. The driver pulled a u-turn and starts hauling towards me. I drop the Trip Mine and back off and just stand there as the driver makes a line to try to splatter me. Blammo! Triple kill. Fun stuff. Chemical_Burn 07-02-2007, 06:01 PM If you can't tell the difference between skill and hacks then you need an overhaul in judgement. The difference between skill and hacks is that you actually die when you have skills and you don't have recoil when you hack. tell that to those that can't figure out that tid bit. Volkov 07-03-2007, 10:18 AM Winning the CAL Beta Season for Call of Duty: United Offensive. We beat a team known for running their mouths when they shouldn't, and it felt really good. yorkshire2510 07-03-2007, 10:31 AM Sigh. I'm an old timer. I think it was seeing the 3d vector graphics on the original Star Wars arcade machine - think this must have been about 1982 or so - ah... just googled it, and it's 1983. The speed of the graphics, the voice samples - it was like being in the movie (to a 12 year old lad, anyway). If you ignored the fact that it was coloured wireframes on a black background, that is.... yourallondrugs 07-05-2007, 01:21 AM I think mine was when I first beat Metal Gear Solid, the first game I ever beat, and then proceeded to do timed runs on the different difficulties. Haha. Also, playing Super Marion World on SNES, and knowing how to get to certain areas my sister didn't (she was way better.) ShadeJackrabbit 07-06-2007, 07:55 AM Mine would have to be playing Jazz Jackrabbit 2 on a computer that was finally fast enough to run it. phloidf787 07-08-2007, 12:59 PM I can think of two rather special moments from the annals of my gaming history. The first being the moment my parents revealed they had bought me an SNES for Christmas one year. They could not wait to give it to me, so I actually was playing it Christmas Eve. I still have pictures of me freaking out upon receipt of the system. The second moment has a dual component; receiving my first gameboy for my birthday one year, and the using it with the bundled game, LoZ:LA. That moment was highly magical for me. xSeven7x 07-08-2007, 01:35 PM I have too many to mention, so 1 of them id have to say is it would be in Day of Defeat: Source. Haha, sounds like me and FEAR, all I do is pwn at that game, then get voted, then laugh, haha I hardly ever use a gun, I am always melee in that game, and I'm soooo sneaky... too bad I haven't played in a long time :( maybe i'll start ;) zard 07-08-2007, 04:09 PM My best gaming moment came about 6 months back, when I was reading up on Nintendo and Mario and what not. I hadn't realised that in the early 80s gaming was in such a poor way, and it made me proud (not the word I was after, but it'll do), to know that I owned a NES and I had Super Mario Bros., it made me feel as if I helped gaming become what it is today, if only in some minor way. Cyber_Hunter 07-08-2007, 09:06 PM This one is easy. After 2 months fo trying to beat "The Legend of Zelda" (NES), my mother, who had never played any type of video game... ever, beat it in 2 weeks. I was about 6 years old and I sat there watching her play every day. Then I intruduced her to "Ocarina of Time" after i beat it (took me a few weeks but was VERY gratifying) and she couldn't get past the deku tree. I've read all the previus posts and i can't beleive their isn't more good memories about the early beginings of gaming. Then again i'm probably the only person here who doesn't own a Xbox/Ps3/Wii. Sadly enough, I don't have the money to put in such games anymore. I do have just about everything that came before those though... I just love the 2D games, and they started it all, for all of us. For those of you that have never played the NES/SNES/Genesis ect. get them on your comps as emulators and use roms (you can hold on to a rom you haven't payed for for 2 days). You will learn a few things about the gaming industry and just how much it has evolved. Woops went off topic a bit... *:) CrAzE 07-14-2007, 06:26 PM The Best Gaming Moment for me.....When I got my 360!!! I'm no Fanboy...In fact I am a Fanboy a Sony Fanboy! But Damn it even I had to open my eyes and go for the 360. I feel better now 8) :D Sh1ppy/Shippwrek 07-14-2007, 08:22 PM Winning the CAL Beta Season for Call of Duty: United Offensive. We beat a team known for running their mouths when they shouldn't, and it felt really good. CAL did a UO ladder? i didnt know that too bad they dropped cod1 there were still a lot of good teams playing at the time . Tiannam 07-14-2007, 11:41 PM Waiting in line till midnight at Gamestop for Halo 2... ...Playing Halo 2 over xbox live for the first time back in 04' Lleu 07-15-2007, 02:07 PM Playing Final Fantasy 1 with my brother. It took us close to a month to beat but we wouldn't play it without the other one sitting there. I went back when I was older an beat it in a matter of hours. It's still the best damn RPG out there if for no other reason then it was the first. CaptainDDL 07-16-2007, 11:53 AM Halo. My first introduction to FPS games. Lumpydonut 07-16-2007, 12:37 PM yea the first time I played Halo was pretty awesome. My friend brought his xbox to my house, and I hated xbox back then, full Nintendo supporter, and I played Halo for some 16 hours straight. Campaign, easy and normal, and some of hard. :D Shatter 07-17-2007, 10:40 AM I can't remember the greatest moment, but I was playing Halo the other day, and jumped a hill in a warthog in multiplayer. As I cleared the hill, I just saw my two team mates staring straight at me as I landed right on top of them both. That was pretty good. Volkov 07-17-2007, 10:43 AM Winning the CAL Beta Season for Call of Duty: United Offensive. We beat a team known for running their mouths when they shouldn't, and it felt really good. CAL did a UO ladder? i didnt know that too bad they dropped cod1 there were still a lot of good teams playing at the time . Yeah, I think they two seasons after the beta. chim7 07-19-2007, 03:34 PM When I saw the opening scene to Final Fantasy Seven the first time. I had played Donkey Kong before but that is what hooked me for life I still fire up the ol' playstation and play that game for nostalgia. sayaintjimmy 08-11-2008, 08:47 PM mine was when i got my game boy color and i played yellow version of pokemon. it was the best viatrophy 08-11-2008, 08:51 PM mine was when i got my game boy color and i played yellow version of pokemon. it was the best Oh wow.. major thread revive.. Best gaming moment = getting 10th prestige level 55 before the majority of people I played with, man that felt good! Beowulf 08-12-2008, 09:34 PM I also might add playing King's Quest 2, which was the first game I ever played from start to finish. It was also the first game I ever played. Killgraft 08-12-2008, 09:59 PM My best moment was in The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. Up to this point had already been my high point in gaming. The amazing intro and first dungeon left me flabbergasted. Then I left Kokiri forest and as I went over the bridge, something happened. Saria Stopped me, handed me an ocarina and we played a song, then she ran away. Then I ran out and saw the awe and beauty of Hyrule Field, and made conversation with an owl. This was the first time a game had really emotionally impacted me on that level, and still to this day no game has ever held even a candle to this visceral experience in gaming. My virtual Nirvana. I miss this game. I want to play it again now. Beowulf 08-12-2008, 10:43 PM I never understood why people liked Ocarina of Time so much. I loved it, but I think Majora's Mask was a lot better. Killgraft 08-12-2008, 11:00 PM I never understood why people liked Ocarina of Time so much. I loved it, but I think Majora's Mask was a lot better. MM was a great game, and I loved it but it doesnt hit that highmark set by OoT, nor really did it even have a chance to no matter what happened. Its like Mario 64 in that regard, how the series went to 3D so perfectly, and how that first shock of "wow this is so different" cant be replicated no matter what. Also you're a lot younger, so 3D was already going by the time you can really appreciate gaming, so that "switch" probably wasn't as black and white. Also in my honest opinion, MM was a little too gimmicky. Ala Douche 08-13-2008, 02:15 AM in chrono cross, at the end when you find out what's really been going on. Spoon 08-13-2008, 01:15 PM In recent memory, it was just a few weeks ago. Playing Halo on construct. The other team had some good team work going and would throw a bubble shield, the sniper would stand inside and snipe anyone who came at him while the others would cover him with a sword adn maulers. I made the jump to get behind them and stuck the sniper, jumped back and threw a bubble shield of my own. One of his teammates threw a sticky that bounced off of the shield and stuck himself in the face. The mauler guy started to charge so I stuck him in the face and backed off of the platform. It was totaly random and total luck but I still thought it was awesome. zinc136 08-13-2008, 01:49 PM my greatest moment? obviously my first milti kil in halo 3 Lono_Lives 08-13-2008, 03:10 PM Wax on Wax off achievement in Geo Wars 2 codinthepocket 08-13-2008, 04:23 PM Wax on Wax off achievement in Geo Wars 2 I'm not sure whether you're serious or not. You've mentioned that a few times now... You're very proud of that acheivement, aren't you? Good job! For me, the best I've had would be... Hitting a par-free round on Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005. I got a score of 52 (16 Birdies and 2 Eagles). I felt so good after that. I love the Tiger Woods games, and that is my proudest moment. (I checked the gaming world records book, and it said that the best score on a round on Tiger Woods PGA Tour was 54... I may have beaten that if that record was the best score on all of the games.) My second choice would be watching the last cutscene of MGS4 and knowing you've completed it. The cutscene was amazing, and you got a great sense of acheivement with it. It's amazing. Haven't got any more at the moment... :cool2: Beowulf 08-14-2008, 12:21 AM My second choice would be watching the last cutscene of MGS4 and knowing you've completed it. The cutscene was amazing, and you got a great sense of acheivement with it. It's amazing. That was the WORST gaming moment. Knowing that you could do no more in the game was awful. Especially Zero's death. That was tear-jerking. Spoony Bard 08-24-2008, 12:40 PM My favorite gaming moment was in Kingdom Hearts II for PS2, when you fight a battle with literally a thousand enemies, followed by a very emotional cutscene that shows the main character as not caring about defeating the villain, he just wants to go home and see his friends. R0CK0 08-24-2008, 05:01 PM stepping into shadow moses in MGS4 and taking the vent i took 10+ years ago to get inside instead of just squeezing through the open door mickrodgers 08-25-2008, 11:37 AM The opening to GTA IV is really quite epic EL DIABL0 91 08-25-2008, 10:40 PM There are a lot...but one of the best was definitely when I first hit elite in Rainbow Six Vegas. DolmenRage 08-25-2008, 10:50 PM When Snake's face got burnt in MGS4... I hate that whiny dude :D. Seriously though, a recent one was when I got in the Warhawk Beta last year, and I finally got to play it for the first time, I was so hpyed for that game! And luckily it didn't dissapoint me. blade2k6954 08-26-2008, 08:01 AM playing cs for the first time and getting a headshot while playing over my friends shoulder with a deagle on aztec i think the map was called..... it was the one where the bomb site was in a courtyard and ct's would come through big wooden double doors and if you were a terrorist you could either wait at the end of a corrider and as they walked in you just take them out there or you could go into like a ditch and then go up some stairs to the bomb site.. anyways we were down below and my friend turned to tell me about the game and just messing around i just reached over his shoulder and clicked the mouse and got a head shot :) best kill EVER!!!! Kage 08-26-2008, 11:59 AM Firing up Crysis for the first time on max settings and walking over that first hill and seeing the entire beautiful island laid out before me. I felt like I could do anything. BioWeapon 08-26-2008, 12:35 PM My favorite gaming moment was in Kingdom Hearts II for PS2, when you fight a battle with literally a thousand enemies, followed by a very emotional cutscene that shows the main character as not caring about defeating the villain, he just wants to go home and see his friends. i loved that part too. ButterflyFairy 06-28-2009, 01:21 PM Not sure which one, but whenever I complete a good RPG, I always get a warm fuzzy feeling TomCoopz 06-28-2009, 03:14 PM Completing Fallout 3...sooooo goood karizmatkstalyn 06-28-2009, 03:18 PM Not sure which one, but whenever I complete a good RPG, I always get a warm fuzzy feeling I know what you mean. I don't play many RPGs but when I finished GTA4 I about cried I was so proud of myself. Gouldie 06-28-2009, 03:25 PM I'd say my first experience of Online multiplayer FPS, that was so awsome, popping a cap in someones ass for the first time. :D McDuff14 06-28-2009, 03:52 PM Playing someone that has spent 10 days of their life on CoD4 and still being able to wipe the floor with their ass. So much fun. GammaFist 06-28-2009, 09:48 PM when I played halo 3 online for the first time and finishing specific challenges in skate 2 Axe360 06-29-2009, 09:32 AM Well I am years late but... My last favorite moment was when I punched a guy(in Fight Night Round 4) and he fell to the ground and never got up... ahahhaa...:grin::grin: trueblu93 06-29-2009, 11:51 AM Scoring the winning goal in the Champs league final in the Be A Pro mode of Fifa. Either that or Snake and the microwave in MGS4. Never before have a bonded with a character so much as in that scene Clap4DonMarco 07-26-2009, 09:43 PM Hey. I'm new to the community, technically. Longtime podcast fan though! Anyhow, I just wanted to ask what everyone's most memorable moment in a game is, be it good or bad. Mine was Final Fantasy XII at the end of the game. No spoilers, but it has to do with two characters that we thought died... not dieing. SO GIVE ME YOUR OPINIONS OR GIVE ME DEATH! DogsDieInHotCars 07-27-2009, 12:21 AM Man...how can I NOT post on a thread created by Don Marco's greatest fan! I think my favorite gaming memory was getting my first piece of shaman purple gear from Molten Core back in the day playing WoW! Man I was pumped! Vault Dweller 07-27-2009, 12:40 AM I don't know if I could pick just one, there have been so many over the years. Playing the new Ghostbusters game for the first time. I had the apartment to myself, ordered some wings from Dominos, and sat down to bust some ghosts. When the opening cinematic finished, and the Ghostbusters theme kicked in, I was bouncing up and down on the futon like a little kid. Beating Diablo II online with my brother and cousin for the first time. We had an truly awesome campaign going, and killing Baal was one of the most rewarding (and challenging) experiences I've had in a game. In Joint Ops: Escalation years ago, I had an epic sniper vs sniper battle with another dude, spanning a few hunded in-game kilometers and many mountains, valleys, and the occasional tank. I finally got the drop on him, and I almost didn't want to shoot him. Almost. ;) So many more... xWhit3XFeath3Rx 07-27-2009, 01:19 AM My most memorable gaming moment came while playing the Battlefield: Bad Company on Oasis. Taking cover in a bush right beside the river, I just watched the scene ahead of me with my trusty .50 cal sniper. I spotted an enemy teammate driving a Humvee all the way on the opposite side of the map, with a gunner in the back. Having a Ah, what the hell moment, I aimed ahead of the Humvee and shot. Suddenly, I saw the gunner crumple and I see a little skull in the bottom left corner. I had actually pulled off a headshot on the gunner, from a HUGE distance away. I was amazed, and that's the reason why it is my most memorable moment Cam-Dog 07-27-2009, 01:28 AM Beating Shadow of the Colossus. Or The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time way back in the day i was like 11 so it was crazy for me. karizmatkstalyn 07-27-2009, 01:35 AM Getting my 1st 100% on super Mario world. I think I was 6 when I did it and although I have no recollection of the moment, it was really the moment that sealed my date as a man cave dweller forever. TinyButDeadly 07-27-2009, 07:18 AM Like Vault Dweller There have been many over the years and is hard to pick just one. Going way back to the ps2 playing kingdom of hearts 2 on that Hercules Level in the arena fighting Ceberus with my trusty keyblade. Also getting my first platinum trophy on 007 Quantum of Solace and dancing around the room  This was not really a 'gaming' moment but it was a gaming tv show named PLYR. It was when i heard that a game named Uncharted: Drakes Fortune was being announced and i just completely got blown away. 1 of many reasons i have a ps3 to this date. Demief 07-27-2009, 07:52 AM Knights of the old republic. Those who played the game will know what i'm talking about. :w00t: Clap4DonMarco 07-27-2009, 05:04 PM Diggin the responses people! And from you especially dogsdie. Just FYI you were juust behind Don Marco for my fanmanship. But only a little! Parky105 07-28-2009, 08:05 AM probably had to be when I completed my first game, which had taken a while, considering i never really completed games a few years ago, which was the ending of Call of Duty 1, i felt very satisfied after finishing it.. TheBlackSpank 07-28-2009, 12:49 PM I doubt I could choose just one. Performing the Omnislash on Sephiroth after collapsing in despair thinking I would have to fight him again with just Cloud after an exhausting fight with three characters. Pressing the button on Megaton. Probably the first standoff I did on Left 4 Dead. The FF8 SeeD test. GTAIV, the robbery with Packie and his brothers. Clap4DonMarco 07-28-2009, 03:33 PM All good stuff! And the humvee headshot must have been transcendant! Way to go! Sabin 07-28-2009, 04:39 PM There are too many to choose from! Pulling all night playing SMW, 30 hour binges on WoW. But I think the best I can remember is playing Secret of Mana back when I was about 8 for hours on end with my brother. LOVE that game. TheBlackSpank 07-28-2009, 06:32 PM Meeting Andrew Ryan! Can't believe I forgot that one. The Darth Revan revelation in KOTOR. Clap4DonMarco 07-28-2009, 08:52 PM All great stuff! Vault Dweller 07-28-2009, 10:27 PM Meeting Andrew Ryan! Can't believe I forgot that one. The Darth Revan revelation in KOTOR. The whole battle taking place on the outside of the giant space port at the end of Mass Effect, where you can just see the Reaver in the background the whole time. The golf club scene? That was messed up. I mean, the whole game was messed up, but that took it to a new level of WTF. And the Mass Effect battle was insanely awesome. Makes me want to play it again! The ending of Dead Space. Clap4DonMarco 07-29-2009, 03:28 PM Nice. I havent played bioshock. It was tough, believe me, but when I beat the last part on "crushing"-difficulty and saw the final cutscene while the Platinum trophy appeared on the screen in the upper right corner... it was GLORIOUS! Here's the video for the ending if someone's curious. May contain spoilers! If you want directly to the cutscnene, start at 3:00.
