I don't see anything. If it is true, it sounds like the worst idea ever. Actually, a 3-D fighting game featuring Sonic sounds worse, but a hedgehog with a sword is pretty bad.

How can a pubisher be so blind as to the wants of its fanbase and the bashing of professional critics? it's like they're doing this intentionally!

I think Sonic needs some more armor. He looks a little naked with only a sword and a single gauntlet.

I actually think this might work out. I mean, unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard about a little something called Wii MotionPlus...and I doubt it would be a "Secret Rings" sequel. That game got so much bad rep, and the newest Sonic game (Unleashed) is seeing the lead designer of the Sonic Adventure series come back to help steer the series back on course. He may very well be involved in this. I think that it might actually be pretty cool to have a 1:1 sword fighting Sonic game. :D They would have to keep the speed aspect of it solid though, if they really want my purchase. Oh. And Chao.

I think that the sword/gauntlet is probably some ancient artifact that will give Sonic incredible strength. It'll probably be the first of many pieces of the Chaos Armor, each of which give him some special ability. I'll bet you anything that that's the case.

Look at the bottom, there's a place where you could plug it in. There are some nubs on the sides to remove it, just like the nunchuck. Also, the Wii Ski deal they showed at E3 used the MotionPlus and Nunchuck. You could use both with each other. Otherwise, it's only good for Wii Sports Resort, and not for anything that would need the joystick to move around.

I got Nintendo Power today.
It is in fact a follow up to Secret Rings.
You can go from top speed to stopping and doing swordplay mid-game.
The gameplay is similar to the Zelda series, lock on and flick remote to fight.
There will be several playable characters, Sonic (obviously), Knuckles (who holds two swrods) and Shadow(sword is still unidentified).
There will be tons of alternate paths in the levels.
There will be missions you can complete.
You also have a 'reputation' you can raise by helping people, with it lowering for doing 'not so good things'.
Apparently the bad guy is King Arthur, turned evil?
The sword can talk.
Multiplayer will involve the swordplay.
Graphics are supposed to be really good (can't always tell from screenshots).
You can get 200 different items, either from missions or chests throughout the level.
These items can build different swords and gauntlets etc. and be traded with friends online.
The camra will pan to classic 2D gameplay (not unlike Sonic Unleashed).

Overall? A LOT better than I thought! Thank God!

Ugh. That sounds like a horrible game to me. Sounds like the same thing as Secret Rings, with some extra gimmicky gameplay tacked on. Does it sound like they did anything to fix the formula from SR? NOOOOO!

Sonic's continued failed attempts at games make me cry... from what you said it sounds better than I expected, but will still probably full flat on its ***. God I miss my Genesis... when Sonic was still cool. Things started to go downhill after they added characters after Tails... Curse Sonic's lame friends. Curse them.
