Dave and I arrived just behind Lono and about a day behind Captain DDL last night. *There seem to be a lot more gamers here than last year. *The BYOPC are is filled to capacity, and while the exhibit floor isn’t really populated by any new and exciting titles like it was last year (noticeably missing are Left 4 Dead and World in Conflict) there is definitely a sense of nerd excitement.

Pardon the funky audio, as we were apparently recording in some sort of parabola or something.

We talked about the announcements made at the keynote with John Carmack and discussed other news including more on Sierra’s limbo status with Activision.

Quakecon sounds fun and all, but I'd much rather be at PAX. Plus, there's no way I'd drive across several states for it.

I could attent most of these kind of events if I really wanted to but my employer would not be very happy with me taking mutiple days off every other month lol. Wish I could check out the chicks though. I would have to be carful cus my girl can pick up another females scent instantly if it was anywhere on me. She's like a bloodhound lol =P

It would be awesome to go to Quakecon, PAX, Leipzig, TGS any big gaming conference but i'd have to sell a whole lot of bllod to be able to afford it.

Listening now, and Im going to argue with Lono about iD.

1) Quake 4 was Raven's work under iD's cooperation. VERY solid, nothing special, but really aside from the world and engine, not their work (both were damn good, though).

2) Quake Wars was just licensing the universe... believe me, it dissapointed me, too (I really wanted the plot of the war in single player). PC actually isnt that bad, but it wasnt as spectacular as I was hoping it would be (360 is trash though... they just didnt get it working right if it only supports 16 players).

3) Doom 3... AMAZING! Seriously, Lono.. Im a horror fan. When I played Doom 1 and 2, I wanted the game to try to scare me. To see 1 remade as the horror they (and I) wanted to start with... I was all for it, and I didnt regret a second of it.

Honestly, Wolfenstien (the new one) Im expecting to be like Quake 4.... a good solid game, but nothing we havent done before.

Doom 4.... Just keep kicking ass...

This is why its bad beinga an Aussie sometimes, I miss all the events! Lono, couldnt aggree more about iD, especially QWET. I came off playing in a clan for BF2, expecting similar gameplay from all of the reviews but it just didnt cut it. For my team based multiplayer I'm just sticking with COD4 and BF2 until COD5 or something better comes out.

On another note, its the first I've heard about Quake Live, and its a great concept! I work nights in an office, what better way to while away the time?

PS, recent subscriber to the show (ep48) but great podcast. The only gaming one to keep me subscribed and smiling! Good job boys.
