Lono wasn’t the only one surprised by the sound from the AX360.

Being a slight audiophile, I was a bit skeptical as I stepped in front of the Tritton Booth here at Quakecon to try out the AX360. *I’ve heard headphones claim to deliver surround sound, but when it comes down to it, most use emulation to attempt to deliver the goods that never comes close to true surround sound. *These mamas, which work with the Xbox 360, PS3, and even PC systems, do it right.

With fours speakers in each ear cup, the AX360 sounded fantastic. *Things that were supposed to be behind me, sounded that way. *No funky echoes or misplaced effects. *The added ear-rumble added to the experience. *Imagine a subwoofer strapped to your ear, and you’re close.

A built-in microphone, and heavily adjustable volume controls for each channel make this sucker about the geekiest sound equipment that money can buy, and at 129.99 it better. *Though selling at a significant discount here at QuakeCon, those of you searching for a way to take your gaming audio to a new level are going to love these.

Other noteable features include:

*

1 year FULL Warranty
16 foot adjustable (velcro) cord
Ventilated ear cups
Podcaster accessibility

I was looking at prices of these a few months back, and though it would've certainly been nice to play with surround sound, late at night, without disturbing the neighbours, £250 Sterling for a headset just seemed excessive.

I figured I'd wait a while and see if the price drops ... and if that $130 tag you've mentioned is correct, it might just be time to grab one.

woot you got to the booth....they are awesome headsets I have a pair. New ones being released at PAX....can't wait to see them....and get me a new pair. I have had these ones for 18 months and will not go back to any other headset.

Sounds awesome! I'll look into that when I need a gaming headset.

Good to hear your thoughts on these, I've been in two minds about buying them for a while. The price is expensive but I'd rather spend that amount on a decent set of headphones than on another sub standard surround sound system and has the added advantage of being easily movable from room to room.

I'll have a lot less problem shelling out the cash for these now that I have heard your expert audio opinion.

Not sure about ordering them in the UK though (more expensive) Does anyone know if there is any problem importing them from the US?
