It's also where Sony is pinning their hope for at least online equality, if not dominance over Xbox Live at some point. The poor showing of their Home beta (http://www.sarcasticgamer.com/2007/09/extreme-makeover-home-edition.html)has caused Sony to push the October release date to spring of 2008. What is going on?

Gamasutra has recently reported that Sony has yet to fill the position of "Home Content Producer." What is the person in this position responsible for?

Developing content strategies for Home to achieve Home business objectives. (not important!)
Coordinate development efforts of Home content.

(Making sure the vending machine in the break room is stocked has a higher priority!)

Act as a liaison between first and third party game publishers/advertisers and external developers of Home content. (Totally unnecessary.)

Analyze community response to content and iterate strategies accordingly. (Who cares what those guys want?)
Did they think that they could proceed without someone in what seems like a vital role? Well, this IS Sony. They must think that the position is soooo "Last Gen!"

Oh, if you feel that you are qualified you can apply here (http://jobs.gamasutra.com/jobseekerx/viewjobrss.asp?cjid=12018&accountno=345). Go there, make it work, and give the Sony disciples something to testify about. Maybe I should apply, I've got some free time.

Surely there were other reasons that slowed the Home project? Maybe they are all playing Halo 3?

Keith22, I too am in the Home beta but I think you're representing what a lot of other people already misunderstand. Home will be an optional part of the PS3 experience. Home is NOT Sony's answer to Xbox Live. Microsoft doesn't have a counter to Home. Home will be built on top of improvements to the XMB in much the same way Windows was built on DOS (or more elegantly as Gnome/KDE are built on top of the Linux command line or the Mac's GUI is built on top of Unix).

Home is going to be one way to interact with people but it will not be the only way to invite people into multiplayer games. This misconception makes me scratch my head when coming from someone that owns a PS3. Normally I'd just write it off to someone without a PS3 only half paying attention to what's been shown/said, but if you're participating in the Beta, I'd assume you to have at least taken a look into what Sony's said their goals are...

Here's the biggest thing to take away from this post:

Home <> Xbox Live they are two different things... it's like comparing Windows to TCP/IP or something...
