Hi guys,

I am a voice chat virgin! There I said it :)

I have listened in like a vocal voyuer on XBox Live and PSN but never participated in the lame abuse and general screaming. Never have a told another person online "Your mother!" or made an entire team listen to my crap music in the background whilst we play.

So I am wondering, am I missing out? I am on the brink of (many things.. coherance mainly) purchasing Warhawk and am considering whether to purchase the box set with the headset.

I can appreciate that people feel a greater sense of connection and cumminuty when using a headset but also it brings a world of abuse (and you kinda look like a dork :w00t: ) to your door.

So there you go guys, what is your opinion (other than VOICE ROCKS DICK please!) ?

Cheers all,

Moose

Well, if you're a team player, then you can occasionally find a serious group who uses their headset for good (and not giving people massive migranes.)

You also miss out on the occasional funny conversations people will have, regardless of who may be on their team/in chat with them at the time.

My opinion is go for the box set if you feel like you need to. I have 4 XBL headsets, mainly because just about anything you buy comes with a headset (1 with console, 1 with chat pad, one with XBL Gold subscription box, ...and 1 because I was too stupid to realize the other 3 things had headsets.) But I do use it when I play Rainbow Six or occasionally in Halo/Call of Duty

It is good when people use it for tactics.

Instead of Abusing it with smack talk and gay music.

Nobody on PSN uses voice chat for anything other than shouting "mothf***aaaaaa" whenever they get fragged. It's very sadface.

I only use my mic to shout out enemy positions and swearing.
I suggest using your mic only to help others and don't be an ass for example playing music, screaming etc.

I rarely chat because I rarely have anything important to say.

I see nothing wrong with it. Why would you want to join in on the abuse anyways?

I wan't saying I wanted to join in the abuse m8 :) I want to use it to chat with people poss and interact with team mates ingame - I don;t want abuse and spending 20 mins trying to get a bluetooth headset to stay in my ears :)

I only really think its worth using voice when your playing with friends, playing with randoms 9 out of 10 times sucks.

Ah, I misread what you wrote.

I see nothing wrong with being quiet in those type of games. They rarely last long enough to make for a good conversation anyways.

MMO's are a different matter. Nothing like drudging through a dungeon for hours on end to spark conversation and believe me, they get weird fast.

I hardly ever voice chat with randoms - I think I can honestly say that I have never been in a party of randoms where is was used positively.

With friends is a different matter though - I cant wait for the 8 person party chat coming to Live in the fall.

I use my mic quite often, but mostly only with friends or people I mark as mature. I tend to get a lot of crap over the fact that I'm a girl. Most of the time it's used just for telling enemy positions or strategy in matchmaking and in social or custom matches its just random chit chat.

Or when we play games with your brother you just argue constantly and end up not really playing .

I like to use mic to talk about theology and philosophy. Also when I meet random people in the Halo Lobby, we usually engage in a rousing exchange about current events and or / share our unique world view.

Also I like to say "motha****aaaaaaaaaaaa" a lot.

Agreed. In an MMO being a jerk can get you removed from a group. Four people in a guild will boot a troublemaker in a heartbeat and find a replacement rather quickly. This means possibly losing hours of work in an instance and losing any chance at gear giving incentive to at least being tolerable to other players. On xbox live, no one is going to kick you from the team for bad behavior and you end up with the same amount of reward (kills, points, etc) regardless of language.

Yeah same here, I usually only use it when playing with friends. Randoms are usually just annoying as shit.
