This bit of information appeared on "Game Informers" website; so it appears there is another Batman game on the horizon and not the EA/Pandamic studios title based on the current"Dark Knight film". So here's the article, and it's the cover story for the magazines next issue:

I read the article in the magazine, and saw the screen shots. And i have to say, it looks like the game takes place in Rapture. The style of the graphics and lighting effects look impressive. I just hope that the gameplay element is there. you can put a turd in a tuxedo, and it's still a turd.

I wonder if this is based on Grant Morrison's amazing Arkham Asylum graphic novel. I really don't see how they'll pull this off well though because Arkham is all about psychological horror and not just beating up enemies. I hate to be so cynical, but I really don't think they'll pull this off unless they take an entirely new approach to games.

It looks like it has a lot of potential, but on the other hand so did Kane and Linch at this point in its development cycle. If they take the time and get it right it can be awsome.

If you pick up the latest Game Informer there is a wealth of Screen Shots, but I cant seem to find any online right now for some reason.

Anyway, has anyone read about this? I skipped over the article at first, since the words "Batman" and "videogame" always seemed to spell "bad", but then after finally reading after boredom, I realized something: This game might actually kick ass.

Its being developed by Rocksteady ( if you are trying to remember what they did before this game, don't bother), published by Eidos, and coming out for PS3, 360, and PC sometime in 2009. From their GI's Description of it, it seems like it will play like the Splinter Cell games (which is awesome since I love the SC games), but with a little more emphasis on offense and the enemies actually being scared of you, which could play really cool into the game.

It takes place in the entirety of the Asylum, fighting pretty much every batman villain locked up there (which means pretty much every batman villain, and probably even ones that have never been there, ala Penguin, may show up too), and is an entirely free roaming environment, not level based (almost seems to be like something of a metroid game the way they described it in the magazine. You see a place they you cant get into yet, but you know that later on youll get something that will help you get into it).

Anyway, try to pick the or find a place to read the latest GI, the game looks great, and Im sure soon enough most of publications will have a load of info a Screen shots on it as well. This is deff a game to keep a look out for in the future.

This game look pretty cool And its Joker is now my second favorite next to Heath of course.

The graphics look really good and I must say I am intrigued. However, I'm wondering how the story works for this game? I'll have to wait for the new issue of GI I suppose.

I think the Glasgow smile and facepaint is a much better circumstance for The Joker then "O noes I fell into toxic stuff and now my hair is all green and things."

Also, If you notice from a Screenshot, I dont get why they let the joker wear that suit whilst he is locked up in the asylum. Looks odd.

Yeah dude, it looks like it. This game looks pretty badass in GI, but its one of those games that's going to come down to how it controls, how the camera works, and how the combat works to determine if its going to be great or even good. Then again, what game isn't like that?

The concept, however, is solid.

Nice. I love the gritty, realistic look of the game. Harley Quinn was always pretty crazy, but she looks like an erotic nurse straight out of hell in that video.

I am really looking forward to this. Stealth games are few and far between now, so this will be refreshing among all the FPSs and Sports games. And as a massive Batman (comic) fan, it will be fantastic. I might have to pick up the collectors edition if it is released over here. Just for that amazing Batarang.

Have I told you how much I'm looking forward to this game? :wink2:

I just came back from playing the game at Target and I have to say I didnt like it. Not a fan of the combat at all. When you combo, right before the final hit, the game slows down. I guess that effect is to make the last hit feel and look more impactful, but for me it just kills the flow and unnecesarily detaches the fast and fluid attacks from the combo. This might hav ebeen alright if you were only fighting like 1 or 2 guys at a time, but when its a whole group, then its just a mess. Also wasnt as deep as I expected it to be. I can see why it was delayed bc it really needs some work. Also there's no jumping. WTH? That means you cant glide with your cape. Considering thats a signature move of Batman's than its pretty disappointing. I dont like it when action games like this do not have a jump button. Sometimes it works, but too often its blatantly obvious that something is missing. 1 good thing I have to say is that the game looks amazing. Graphics are pretty good and visaully, this is the best looking DC game to date.
