i checked out the game today, and i have to admit, it's a very very solid football game. i am impressed. the physics are the best to date, the textures are the best to date, the stadium accuracy is amazing, and even the commentary seems smoother... something that hasn't changed almost since they started doing it.

the couple gripes i have are as follows: first, the character models don't seem like they've been improved at all... all of the people look almost the same still...

even though there is a little bit of interaction between the players (every once in a while i'll see someone help someone up off the ground), i'd still like to see more of it. one thing that bugs me is when i score a touchdown and my player is doing his thing in the endzone while the rest of the team just jogs back to the sidelines... sure it seems more sportsmanlike and all, but it's just not real.

anyway, what do you all think, those who have played it?

btw, any "i don't care" posts will be deleted.

Agreed Ala Douche

This may stop the curse of terrible Madden games. I though it was pretty creative of doing a training mode for those who haven't played Madden. Training is a simulator with offensive and defensive tactics and moves, also at the end of the test it gives you the reconmended difficulty to play with called the Madden IQ.

People download the demo and try it out, you may like this Madden game ALOT!

I have to say, I went and bought the wrong Madden game, then.

Wait, hold up, not saying this one is terrible, I'm talking about last year.

I went and bought 08 last year, on launch, and now I find out that I should have saved that money and picked this one up instead. This is way more refined than previous years, hell, the only thing that needs to be done now is to refine code, so it doesn't chug as much.

@ Ala: If you watch some of the replays, you'll see players on each side of the ball get into each other's face, they'll do a bit of smack talk, there is a lot more interaction besides the rigmarole of the actual game. And, sometimes during the celebrations, if the play was a short one to the endzone then you might celebrate with a teammate.

oh one more thing i like is how the difficulty changes after every game based on how you do. your offensive rushing may become more difficult if you run the ball well, while your offensive passing may become less difficult if you have a hard time throwing the ball... very cool.

I challenge you to a game of football when my game comes in, Ala. We can play for the SG-Bowl.

I like what I have seen so far. Of course, I never was very good at the madden games, so I like the fact that it adjust to your skill level. I understand that the all madden players are not too happy about it.

I wonder how well it will work.

i'm just checking it out from work, so you'd better get it before friday!

it's not a requirement... you can still change the difficulty manually.

So what about when a pro is playing a noob? I heard that the difficulty levels would be different for each player in the game.

that i don't know about, but i would much rather like a challenge than beat someone 50 to 0... it doesn't matter how your difficulty settings are, if you don't know what you're doing, you won't beat anyone... unless the other person doesn't know what they're doing either...

also, in the previous madden's (and pretty much every sports game), you can see the level of your opponent before choosing to play them.

Okay, had a little time with the game and...I like it. Gameplay and Graphics are smoother and better although it did seem to chug at times (on the Xbox). My only concern is that the "adjustable" AI will end up being the same super cheap AI of maddens of old. Last year, throwing across the middle was impossible. LB's could pick anything up to and including the space shuttle. While it's nice to have the game "learn" for more casual players (along with the simplified controls and play calling) at some point I know I'm going to read a pass defense, call a run and someone tackle my guy from five yards away.

Yep, this is a problem. Last I checked, Tedy Bruschi wasn't the love child of his mom and a cruise missile. And yet, each time I try to run, he's already in my backfield, taking Brown for a loss. I could understand it sorta, since I'm playing as the Dolphins, but, still, a bit too much zip on those run shutdowns.
