View Full Version : MGS5 Confirmed osmosis5 08-26-2008, 11:56 AM http://bornagamer.com/2008/08/26/metal-gear-solid-5-confirmed-creator-talks-multiplatform/ What do you think this will be, a prequel? smokeymicpot 08-26-2008, 12:02 PM It should be if i had to choose. They should do the gap years between 2 and 4. Keith K 08-26-2008, 12:12 PM As a FORMER Kojima Productions employee, Ryan Payton is in a position to confirm nothing. He simply alluded to the fact that when the next MGS game inevitably begins development, he'll be sorry not to be there. If you take this as confirmation of anything other than obvious disappointment, you're foolish. Kiljoy 08-26-2008, 12:15 PM You would be foolish to think 5 won't come out. Keith K 08-26-2008, 12:16 PM Hence the word 'inevitably' Kiljoy 08-26-2008, 12:19 PM Oh I know, I just get a kick out of how people get excited about confirmations for games you KNOW are coming out. roy 08-26-2008, 03:06 PM i've heard raiden is gonna be the main character... osmosis5 08-26-2008, 03:11 PM As a FORMER Kojima Productions employee, Ryan Payton is in a position to confirm nothing. If you take this as confirmation of anything other than obvious disappointment, you're foolish. I was simply quoting N4G's headline. If you want to call them foolish, you can. I did not make the headline. Shane86 08-26-2008, 03:42 PM I heard grey fox comes back from the dead and Raiden is the final boss. And Raiden's son dies in an unfortunate zoo accident. Frank 08-26-2008, 05:08 PM That URL 404's for some reason now. Anyway, sure all the "end of Snake's story" rather than "end of MGS" references seem to make 5 a foregone conclusion, but the real challenge is actually retaining the flavor of the series with a worthy successor. They can play it safe with a prequel (like the heavily suspected Big Boss storyline from between MGS3 and MG) or they can try to create something more with the story. I really felt like the torch really wasn't passed, though. A successor to the series needs to have paid their dues and be perceived as Snake's natural replacement. They tried with Raiden and failed once, but MGS4 really redeemed him in the eyes of a few fans. Without the cybernetics perhaps he stands a chance, but I'm not sold yet. But even then, I'm not sure I'd want a full game of Raiden. I found his gameplay in MGS2 awful. Kojima is intelligent enough to create a new storyline, right? Look what a different story did to the Call of Duty series. Ok, I know, it's different since these are wars that actually happened, but even then, a transition from WW1 to the Iraq War (Presumably) made COD4 the most popular COD game, and one of 2007's most popular games. Could we see this effect with a new MGS storyline? DolmenRage 08-26-2008, 07:05 PM Now they're just beating up a dead horse. Let it die, before you ruin it. NoneOfYourBusiness 08-26-2008, 07:57 PM Metal Gear is pretty open to continuation, the play style can still be refined with more factors being included. I mean if we are talking stealth, they can eventually include factors like Line of Natural Sight For Enemies Heat Vision for Enemies Sound Light Motion Disturbed Enviornment All that more to enhance the stealth experience. Solid Snake is done, but they could introduce a new cast or reference old members in a new game. I mean... we need more Metal Gear battles.... Killgraft 08-26-2008, 07:59 PM It would be cool to see the original 2 Metal Gears get the 3D treatment in one full game. Also I wish they would port Portable Ops to PSN so I can play on my PS3. Anyway, I have no idea what they should do next, even as the big MGS fan I am. I trust them not to disappoint. Yamster 08-26-2008, 09:15 PM Page is a 404, ie: they just made some major BS up for some hits. Ryan Paton left Kojima Productions so anything he says is probably to be considered off-the-record. |
