Maybe it doesn't seem like that good of a game by todays standards but it is still a good game regardless...
Maybe if you played it the year it was released you may have been able to appreciate it a little more, Its a bit like me saying I just played pacman for the first time and it was F***ing ****...

God of war is one of THE best franchises out there, which makes it all the more special its coming to the PS3!

But yeh, you are very late to this party, its a very violent and death ridden party, but that's because kratos wishes it!!!!

And i agree play it until you see why killing lots of things with some pretty gruesome outcomes is so awesome. That sentence just makes it sound awesome without even playing it!

I loved God of War, though the sequel was better. But I understand where the author is coming from. There are certainly some highly rated games that I don't care for. Or, at least I don't think they are as great as some people think they are.

Hey don't get me wrong, I liked it, a good amount actually. I just didn't think it was the crazy orgasm of a game that a lot of people told me it was gonna be ( i would give it like an 8 if i was a reviewer). In fact there is a chance I may even get God of War 3 when it comes out.

eh, i think an 8 would be justifiable for GoW1... i'd probably give it an 8.5 though. it is rather repetitive.

On the other hand, for its time it was a very good game for a system that people thought was on its last legs and couldn't handle such a game.

But, the game has its problems. Ala Douche's comment is the reason why even though I have GoW1 & 2 on my shelf, I suspect I won't finish either of them. It's just like how I couldn't finish any of the Devil May Cry games because I found these kind of games pretty repetative.

I've yet to finish off GoW1 (problems accesing a PS2, hopefully resolved next month), however it's GoW 2 that's the real masterpiece. There's something wonderfully cathartic in the utterly savage way Kratos solves problems. Being harrased by griffons? Leap on to it's back and rip its wings out of it sockets.

...and I loved beating the snot out of that arrogant git Perseus.

dude nothing better than kicking those dog things into each other.... animal abuse never felt so good but ya gow is an amazing series and most games are repetitive these days you could say cod 4 or halo are repetitive b/c all you do is go from level to level shooting people. i've played both multiple times and still enjoy playing them what's better than ripping out a cyclopses eye or shoving your blades down a minitors throat?? really i mean come on....
