This is really just a look at the world we live in as gamers, a hopefully unbiased, entertaining and funny look at the world of interactive entertainment. Reviews, Previews, other views of things...its all here.
I have been tasked with doing an independent study for one of my college courses. As such, I need to think of a topic and avenue of research that could both fill up the whole semester as well as provide lots of good impressive info. If any of you smart folks out there have some good, solid ideas...let me know! It would be greatly appreciated.
Most people know that the economy, especially that in America, is facing some problems right now. But the question I have, and this is a bit of analytical thinking coming up, is if a weak economy is healthy for videogaming?
First I'll look at it from a 'gamers' perspective, or at least mine. For me it means that publishers will have to make tougher decisions with what to put out there and get behind. To me this means cutting a swath through the shovelware that appears on all systems,...

Or when war is declared a Ghost Recon or Endwar sim pops up, as you the Commander-in-Chief, lead the troops into combat.
Or there can be some creepy Japanese dating sim that involves you and an attractive White...
Something that completely irks me is when one reaches the end of a game only to be disappointed, or be gifted with a less than expected hint at a sequel. For me not only does this seem to make the hours played feel kinda crappy, but the awesome moments during the game seem a bit less awesome because of some contrived ending (GOW 2...I'm looking at you).
The reason I bring this up is I recently played through Half-Life 2: Episode 2 on the Orange Box, and realized how well Valve crafts...
