I'm amazed that I saw this on TV before fourzerotwo announced it online.
I hope the vehicle based levels don't out-weigh the Soap, Roach and Ghost missions. I wasn't worried about that until I saw this trailer.
like The Moon said....the whole point of the level is to reveal just how unspeakably evil the terrorists are and to make you revolted by their actions...they included this level and made you a participant in it NOT to sympathize with their cause, but to try in a small way to show you just how far "real life" terrorists would go to see their cause advanced.
Part of the point of the level (try to remember the teaser trailer for a moment when "you" are prepping for the shootout in the elevator and one of the terrorists says "remember, no russian") is to reveal that the terrorists believe they are in the" right" even though their actions are cowardly and evil. (They want to hide their identities while they are murdering innocent people.....true cowards)
You are supposed to HATE them for it and WANT to see them brought to justice...seeing the actions "first hand" is to help you indentify with it more.
In ANY case...I find it COMPLETELY distasteful....and am a little ashamed of them for doing it.
How can you say that when your avatar is a guy swinging a cat?
Also, I think this was put in the game for the emotional "push" it will give the player. After all, they are trying to make a really good video game, right? Movies do this kind of thing and get applauded for it. Making gaming more "mainstream" and "acceptable" should not be Infinity Ward's goal. Making an excellent gaming experience should be.
