does the texture resolution still "fade" in? cause one thing that annoyed me in mass effect 1 was that even after i came out of the elevator it still took about 15 seconds for the textures to load fully, because when i came out of the elevator, they where incredibly blury.
maybe it is just my PC though..
It's not an issue with the game but rather the engine

Just be glad your playing it on the PC. Hands down the best version.
My only beef with the game is that not every class/ability/power is all that useful. A sniper for example is pretty much as waste of time. Still a really great game.
i have to wonder if you were doing the right class mix and weapon upgrades then....my sniper can carve through ANYTHING in 2 or 3 shots... even a Geth Armitage....

Yeah it happened on the 360 too. 15 Seconds is a long time for the textures to load though. As I recall it took at most four or five seconds on the 360 and was even quicker than that if you installed it. I'm guessing the PC version has more textures to load, but 15 seconds still sounds excessive.
From what I have heard ME2 will drastically reduce the 'texture pop-up' by quite a bit.
I had a nightmare time with the sniper rifle but maybe it was my class. The thing just qouldn't aim straight so in the end I just carve through everything with the Rifle.

I'm only about 8 hours in or so (and I like to do all the side quests), so I haven't run into much combat, sadly, but I prefer to just stick with the Shotgun and Rifle. However, I'm sure if I put points into the sniper skill or something it would improve and become more useful.
Okay so I went straight to the Ice Planet after getting my ship, and the enemies here seem immensely more difficult than earlier. Did I do something wrong? Also, my rifle says that it has 0 accuracy, and shoots like it too. Is that a glitch, or did I pick up the wrong gun? (I sold/DE (WoW term: I don't remember the term for what you can break items down into)'d all my other rifles.)

I'm pretty sure the enemies scale with you. I went to Noveria on my second playthough and didn't experience a difficulty spike. As for the rifle, that never happened to me, but it seems odd to have a gun with 0 accuracy.
And I think you break your items into Omni-gel? Something like that.
