Default Chiptunes

I have recently become interested in both listening to and creating chiptunes. I have been making them on my computer using the little sound dj demo on the virtual boy emulator. Do any of you on the forums make chiptunes? If so, do you have any suggestions from where to go from where I am (I do know a fair amount of music theory)?

I have never really messed with them, but have always been curious. Maybe I will start searching for some programs for them today... If I find anything good I will be sure to post it here...

I kind of want to do chip metal, so I will be keeping my eyes open as well.

I'm a musician but I don't write chiptune. However, I do think its ace to listen to.

I recommend Machinae Supremacy for you to listen to then, as they are a chipmetal/SIDmetal band, using an old C64 sound chip for their songs.
