Default Diamonds in the Rough

So i just went to blockbuster and was perusing the games available for rent when i grabbed Stuntman Ignition seeing as i hadn't heard too much about the game when it released I assumed this would be 7 bucks wasted, turns out I was completely wrong I am enjoying the game alot actually outside of how nitpicky it can be about some of the stunts its really alot of fun... oh yeah the point... I was wondering about some other games that may not have gotten much advertising or love from the critics that are alot better than the credit they are given.

For me, it's been Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. It wasn't perfect, and like your experience there are definitely some nit-picky issues, but overall it's a fantastic game with one of the best, most original stories in the Star Wars universe. And you can force electrocute Jawas. WIN.

true man i really enjoyed star wars too... plus throwing wookies around was way too fun. Wolfenstein is another one i started playing today and so far its alot of fun not a real fan of the character models but the weapons and different death animations make up for it

Wolfenstien is good, but good in a way that assures a steam sale will sell it to me.

I think my big one here was Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

I research the crap out of a game before buying it; I've been burned several times before. I haven't picked up anything to find that it's actually good...

Saw this game when it came out but I decided not to get it becuase the whole point was to follow instructions perfectly. Which isn't what I want in a game.

I played the demo a few years back, before I had a console, but wasn't a must buy for me. Maybe if I saw it on the cheap......

My diamond, ironically, was Far Cry2. I know everyone and their mother had serious issues with the game, but I fought through it and enjoyed what was underneath. Sort of the same situation with Assassin's Creed, but with more annoyance.

It got largely dismissed as another Koei generic hack-n-slash release, but Samurai Warriors 2 is one of my favorite games ever. I have it for PS2 and 360, put over 120 hours into each version and 100%'d the 360 version.

Also loved Planescape: Torment for the very reason that most people didn't: It's almost impossible to get game over and instead of being demi-god duking it out, it's about discovery, conversation, logical deduction all tied to one man's quest to regain what he threw away, thinking he didn't want it.
