Default Are you having problems with your 360 controller?

A while back, I needed a second Xbox 360 controller, so I bought one of the sleek black ones. This one soon became my controller of choice, simply because of the color. Sadly, a problem has recently appeared with my joystick. Now I didn’t think much of it until I was in a game with two other people with almost the exact problem.

Those are odds you can put money on.

Follow the jump for the details.

The problem with the controller is that if I push the joystick to a certain position, the movement will stick until I push in a different direction. It’s not especially obtrusive in many games, but in certain ones like GTA IV, it sticks out like a sore thumb. Mine sticks to the left, and of the two people who I’ve discussed these problems with, one sticks to the left, and one sticks forward.

So of course, I thought I would ask the community if they’ve run into this problem. Three people in the same room with similar problems seems a bit to coincidental to me.

I haven't had one with my 360 controller, but I had the same problem with my old ps2 controllers. Two of them in fact.

All three of mine (white/wired) have the right stick that sticks.

I noticed it too with my non elite wireless controller. I never noticed it until I played GTA 4. It gets stuck to the left.

I noticed the same problem on my black controller while playing BioShock. I now use my white controller or the Halo controller. Weird.

I noticed it slightly with Mass Effect and CoD4, but GTA is where it really appeared. It's also really noticeable in in Rainbow Six Vegas 2.

two of my non-elite wireless have died on me. I try putting new batteries in, but to no avail.

I also havea non-elite wired one that died on me. When I plug it in, it flashes once, then won't do anything else...

I've had it happen with two different non-elite wirless controllers. I didn't notice that it was even happening with my second controller until I played GTA4, where it really stuck out. And both times it was stuck going forward.

I have two, non-elite wireless and one sticks to the left on the right stick. Ignorable. Came up in Halo 3 and CoD4. Haven't tried it with GTA yet.

My wireless 'troller sometimes moves me left when I'm not even touching the left a-stick. But a quick prod rectifys this before I veer off a cliff.

One of my controllers thumbsticks sticks slightly to the right. It has its' full range of motion but won't re-center itself properly. Usually My guy/vehicle/etc. is in a slow constant right hand turn. I have to re-adjust it slightly to allow it to sit back on the original center point. I no longer use it for general gaming, but did find the slight movement helpful for lining up shots in golf/pool games and the like. Honestly though I'm pretty sure the controller wasn't originally like that and picked up the ailment through simple over-use.
